Great Hotel, awesome price...

This hotel was awesome, very clean and comfortable with awesome customer service. I'll be definately staying there again, what can I say it exceeded my expectations beyond measure. Love it!

Great Value in Waikiki

The Aqua Palms was a great hotel in Waikiki. It is right across the street from the Hilton Hawaiian Village (easy beach access) and there is a trolley stop right in front of the hotel. It was a great value for the money, especially in Waikiki. We would definitely stay there again. The only complaint was that the elevators were slow, but it didn't hamper our stay.

Needs Improvement

Hotel is on a busy street, very noisy during day and Night.The hotel needs to be completely updated. I was very disappointed I selected this hotel.

Great Vacation!

We stayed at the Aqua Palms and we had a great time. The hotel is 5 min. to the beach and right next to the Hilton Village. Friendly and helpful staff, nicely decorated rooms and lobby, good European style breakfast, we have no complaints at all. In fact, we are reserving another week in May to go back.

Great Hotel!

This was my wife's and my second stay at the Aqua Palms and Spa. We really like it there, especially for the price that we pay each time we go. There were other hotels for lower cost, but we wouldn't have gotten the same quality for the dollar that we get at the Aqua Palms. The Aqua Palms is right at the beginning portion of Waikiki, so getting in and out is reasonably easy. The hotel has parking, but there is a $20/day charge, which is expected when living in Hawaii. Some hotels don't have parking at all, and guests are relegated to parking their vehicles on the street. We've stayed in two different standard size rooms now, and they are really nice: flat screen TVs, high off the ground full size bed, couch, great A/C, the bathrooms are beautiful and clean, etc. We checked in at night, but had a nice view of the city. The next morning we looked out and we could see Diamondhead. Although we had to gaze around/through other high rises, it was spectacular to see this beautiful Oahu landmark. The staff, as always, is friendly and courteous. The service is excellent and quick, which I appreciate. We live in Hawaii, so we've stayed at several hotels over the years, including 5-star hotels. The Aqua Palms may not be a 5-star hotel, but in my opinion, you can't get any nicer for the price.

Good Value

Rooms a bit cramped, but clean and refrigerator and microwave were a bonus. Nice T.V. Complimentary "breakfast" is only a muffin and fruit which can get monotonous after 3 days. But a great breakfast place on the street level at the corner. Great complimentary coffee in the lobby 24 hours. Bus service within a block or so of hotel is convenient, but slow. Learn routes and times and what $2 round trip in 3 plus hours. Not easy to get to Diamond Head by bus, but main attractions are accessible by bus if you wait long enough. ABC stores have 4 day bus passes that may be helpful.

ok for one night

The room we stayed in was nice and clean. They had the microwave, fridge, iron, robes. Bathroom had granite countertops but the size of the bathroom was little small. We got our room upgraded so we are not sure how the other rooms are. We had a city view which was not that great. They have a swimming pool which is really small and the continental breakfast is not great either. If you are staying here for one night then it's ok. You would also have to pay $20 for parking. The neighboring parking lots are more expensive.

Okay but there's better in Waikiki

We purposely booked this hotel to save money. We basically got what we paid for. The place is older, the rooms are okay, no cleanliness problems or otherwise. The bedding is very light. In Hawaii, with 75F the common nighttime temperature and control of your room's A/C, it's not a problem -- but I like heavier bedding. The reviews about parking make it sound like all of Waikiki isn't difficult to park in... it is. Don't worry about it, just don't rent a full sized pickup truck or SUV. We had spent the previous week with a group rate for a convention over at the Moana Surfrider, and the classiness and beautiful grounds of the Surfrider really made the other end of Waikiki with the huge groups of tourists and the towers and towers of older hotels stuffed to the gills with people, really seems like a dump. In all, we weren't in the room for anything other than sleeping, and we got out and enjoyed Oahu during the day. The breakfast isn't anything useful most of the time, as it's just a muffin or bagel and a piece of fruit in an over-crowded room near the 2nd floor swimming pool with surly hotel staff refilling things. Coffee is from a machine that makes it from powder or something. With so much better real Kona coffee available everywhere, it's extra disappointing to drink that swill for any reason -- so I didn't. In all, it was a cheap hotel, and that's what we (thought) we were looking for, and I'm not going to complain -- but if we had a chance to go again, we'd book the Surfrider for the entire stay, just for the classy service, nice amenties and the morning back patio with real grass and a view of the ocean. Duke's right next door to the Surfrider also has a great breakfast buffet for $14.95, which is a steal in the Hawaiian Islands. The Coffee Shop a block away from the Aqua Palms is good, and good prices, but it's also old and run down. Want a great Oahu experience, either cram into the Hilton with all the tourists who like the "whole experience" handled

Honolulu's Best Kept Secret for the Price

Finding a place to park while checking in was a challenge, but well worth any hardship. Parking is offered on site at $20/day, so after checking in, finding a place to park is very easy. The front desk staff was superb . . . very friendly. The room wasn't large, but very opulent. The bed was high off the ground, the city view was beautiful, and there was a very nice flat screen HDTV. The bathroom was decked out with tile and marble, very beautiful. Everything was very clean. We've stayed at some nice motels before (e.g. Marriott, Turtle Bay, etc), but for the price, this cannot be beat.

Wonderful & Affordable!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for six nights, and it was pretty amazing. Overall, I'd highly recommend it. Positives: - the outstanding staff (I truly believe that you couldn't find better customer service!) - size of the room (We had a king size bed, and the room was spacious.) - the price (Compared to what other hotels were charging, this was superb.) Cons: - the location (This hotel isn't in the middle of all the action, and it wasn't as close to Waikiki Beach as I had hoped. However, it's still definitely within walking distance, and another beach that connects to Waikiki Beach is just a short walk away.) - the view (We reserved a Diamond Head view room and thought that the view would be grand. Unfortunately, Diamond Head is tiny in the distance. You also get a partial ocean view since there are other hotels blocking most of the view. Ultimately, if I could rebook the hotel, I would probably choose the city view room since it's cheaper.)

We got what we paid for

From the reviews we read, I expected way too much from this hotel. It was not clean (mold in the shower and what appeared to be small blood spatters on the wall...ew!)and every morning at 6 we awakened to the soothing sound of the jackhammer from the street. I don't think I would ever stay again. Save a little extra money and stay across the street at the Hilton.

Pleasantly Surprised by Aqua Palms

We stayed at the Aqua Palms for a single night in September 2008 prior to leaving for a cruise. The Aqua Palms was one of the lower cost hotels in the area. The room was recently remodeled and all finihes were fresh. This site is near Waikiki and its heavy traffic, which makes driving around the hotel difficult. Parking is an additional $20 per night. Many sights are within walking distance though. Get a map to help with your walking excursions. I recommend this hotel.
