Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 13Poor Value
Really overpriced! The staff and services were very cold. no warmth to the service... The lanai was very poorly equiped (2 old chairs and a table), we were really expecting at least 2 lounge chairs... Restaurants were just Mediocre, and the fees for the emenities were way too much!

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 13Beautiful Resort
Everything was wonderful! The staff, the breakfast buffet, the grounds! The food and drinks at the pool bar were a bit over priced. The location is wonderful for shopping and beach fun all in one day!

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 13Beautiful, friendly resort
My wife, 4-year-old daughter, and I stayed at the Maui Sheraton for about a week toward the end of March (spring break). It was our first trip to Hawaii. We had an excellent time, and the resort contributed considerably to our enjoyment. Location--There are several resorts in a row in this stretch of Maui. In my opinion, the Sheraton has the best location. It is right next to Black Rock, where you can watch cliff divers all day long and have an exceptional snorkeling experience. Some people will not want to be in a touristy area (and this is definitely a touristy area!), but if a resort is your thing, choose this one. We like to plant ourselves in one place for these vacations, and we were glad we chose this place. Service--I was amazed at how friendly and hospitable all of the staff was. Everyone said "Aloha" and several staff members remembered my name from day to day. Room--We had a deluxe ocean front room, which looked out to the ocean. Well worth it. It was a great view, which you could enjoy from the balcony. The room itself was maybe a little small, but it didn't really matter because there was so much to do outside. I'm not sure I would have loved a room that faced away from the ocean, but I suppose if you plan to be outside the whole time, you might not care. Grounds--Beautifully manicured grounds with lots of palm trees. An excellent pool (including a kiddie pool) that winds through the beach-side of the resort. And access to a clean beach with calm water. Food--Decent, not great. The best (by far) was the breakfast, which was free when using the coupons they gave us. The lagoon bar/grill and main restaurant were only okay, but there are many other choices for food on the island. Price--Here's the only slightly negative part: It was EXPENSIVE. In particular, the food was ridiculously expensive. We regularly spent $60 on lunch for three, and what we got was not worth it. There were also a few hidden fees (including the $24/day resort fee), but there w

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 13Room Great for the Price/Room Service Prices Astronomical
Our goal was to stay at a nice hotel with a good beach and snorkeling. The hotel is right on Black Rock, which is one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. It's also the place they do a cliff diving ceremony every night. The beach is lovely. We got a special rate for the ocean front room, which was in the Moana Building right on Black Rock, so that was a very good deal for the money. The room was very nice and well maintained, included a flat screen tv, internet access, refrigerator safe, very well appointed. Only thing is, to get from the room to the beach was somewhat of an ordeal: had to take two different elevators and do quite a bit of walking. The only major criticism we had was the price of room service: ridiculously high (a bowl of cereal was $16). We usually stay in really high end exclusive resorts and these were definitely the highest prices for food we have seen anywhere.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 13Much better than expected!
I knew this was an older property when we booked but got a great rate through Hotels.com so we took it anyway. Before arriving I called the hotel and asked for a rollaway for my teenage daughter but were told that it cost $75 per night so I declined. The person I talked to did offer to check out other options for us. When we checked in we were greatly surprised to find out they had upgraded us (for no extra charge) to a lovely ground floor family suite. Staff was friendly & helpful. Nightly entertainment, including sunset cliff diver, was great. Some buildings do show their age, but this just adds to the overall ambiance of the property.
