Not Bad for the Price

This wasn't a bad hotel by any means, but it wasn't great either. The service was prompt and friendly, the hotel was clean, plenty of hot water, etc. However, the beds were a little too firm for my liking and it wasn't in a great part of town. We didn't mind walking to the nearest El station (about 1/2 - 3/4 mile at Cermack and China Town) during the day (or around downtown, the loop, etc. at night) but I would take a cab home after dark. There's probably a similar place for about the same price closer to the El or downtown or both.

Great room for the money

Hotel staff were very friendly and responsive to my needs. Great location near lots of attractions. I will stay here again.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel near the end of August 2009, and found it to be FANTASTIC! The staff was professional and went out of their way to assist us with whatever we needed. The surrounding neighborhood really wasn't an issue, and the hotel is literally a 5 min taxi ride from downtown or a 10 minute walk to the train station. Overall this is was GREAT hotel for the money.

Interesting mix of people

We enjoyed the people we met from the neighborhood. Found a small bar that was a funeral home in the past-these were the best people! Bus and red line were convenient to get around downtown Chicago. The door man was so friendly, the cafe in the hotel was overpriced and not so friendly. Overall, we had a great experience.

Great for the money

This hotel was wonderful. The staff was friendly, informative, and polite. The rooms were larger then expected, the bathrooms were twice the size then expected. The restaurants in the area were very good. The only thing we didn't like was the beds were a little too firm for our liking. I'd definately use this hotel again.

Unexpected Surprise, a Rose among the Thorns

This Hotel is very easy to find, being just off the highway, and upon first appearances looked to be run down, but in fact is far from it, with pleasant staff and clean fresh decor, it has been bought up to date very well, not quiet finished with this when we were there, with amenities lacking in the rooms, such as coffee makers and lockers, and no sit down catering facilities such as Restaurants, overall we felt this was a wonderful hotel, a short walk from Soldier field, and China town, a little longer walk to the museum complex, about 15 mins, but still comfortable. We could catch a water taxi to Navy Pier, $7 each, about 20 mins away, and pick up a 29 bus back to the hotel. Big Benefit was the free parking, in a secure courtyard, no worries, with entre gate systems for security; this was a very good find as hotels go in this area. Would visit again, and recommend to anyone.
