Trip Type: Special Event Review 1 of 27Dirty room
The mattress was the worst I have ever slept on. Not fit for a dog.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 27Great Stay
I was very impressed with this hotel. It was very convenient to walk to McCormick Place and about a 20 minute walk to downtown. Easy cab access. The room was great, the tub is huge. The only negative was that there was no coffee maker in the room.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 27Way better than expected
I read the other reviews about this hotel and made my reservation with trepidation. Since I needed a hotel close to downtown, I booked my room so late, and all other hotels were full, I figured I'd have to put up with the negatives. I just needed a place to sleep. All my fears were unfounded. The room was large, the beds comfortable, the parking was free! My only complaint is the room was on the east side of the hotel, and the El green line is one block away across State St., and the train runs most of the night. It was loud enough to disturb light sleepers. Stay on the west side of the hotel and you will be fine. Also, the staff was most helpful except for the blond-haired older woman working Monday morning. She needs a lesson in customer service. Overall, I give the hotel two thumbs up. I'd stay there again, no questions.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 5 of 27Outstanding for the Money
Really good place for the Money. Clean, well decorated, and some good services. Location isn't what I would call "pretty" and I would feel better if I seen some security around the parking lot. Parking is free, but I would pay to park if they could have a guard onsite although we didn't have any problems. Hotel Bar/Lounge was nice. The little coffee shop was convenient, however the Food was bad and the coffee was worse. Rooms are good sized, beds were a little rough. The Bathroom/Shower was one of the best I've had in any hotel. Nice Deep Tubs, and good water pressure. However no shampoo in the rooms. For the money in a big city, even though its slightly out of the way to attractions I would say its a pretty good deal,.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 6 of 27Good Hotel for Location
The hotel is nice, free parking was a great bonus. It isn't in the greatest neighborhood, but we had no problems during our stay. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs because the L runs right outside of the hotel. Other than that, the rooms were clean, great bathrooms, the decor is kind of older, but you do have a lot of space and a flat screen TV. I would stay again.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 9 of 27outstanding hotel
the lobby was richly designed. the desk clerk was pleasant & professional. The door man excelled at calling me a cab whenever i needed one. I felt safe. The gift shop was reasonably priced. I bought a beautiful pic & the Hotel shipped it for me so I didn't have to pack it with my luggage. my room exceeded all expectations with 2 queen size beds, a plasma T.V., the bath tub was large enough for me to lie up to neck & soak in hot water, the water pressure for a shower was remarkable, I had a sitting area with 2 chairs & a cocktail table along with the usual furniture in a hotel room. the lounge only served popcorn to eat, but they encouraged people to order out & eat in the lounge. I don't drink alcohol, but the waitress gave me the same courtesy she gave everyone else who were drinking more profitable beverages. I would definitely regard this hotel as a place to stay. The bfkst cafe was a little slow so allow yourself enough time to wait because the food was great.

Nice hotel in Chicago with parking. The only negatives are the noise from the trains will disturb light sleepers and the neighborhood is under transition.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 11 of 27Good Value
The room was large and very comfortable. The staff we dealt with was very helpful when needed. The hotel was also very clean. The only problems were: the closing room doors were very loud, the hotel did not have a restaraunt once the little cafe was closed even though there was a sign on the wall saying there was, and when we arrived there was hair in the tub.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 12 of 27Great Value - Fresh decor, spacious room, comfortable bed, wonderful shower
South Loop Hotel was a great pick!! Fresh decor, spacious room with comfortable king bed, large tub with wide shower area, very clean. Large flat screen tv, lots of electrical plugs in the room with quiet cooling system. The rumble of the L is barely heard outside. Monitored and separate hotel parking - very secure area. Welcoming and friendly staff to assist you. Great value --- easy access to 55. South Loop will see us next trip to Chicago.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 13 of 27As advertised
The hotel lived up to and down to the reviews that I read prior to booking. The room was clean, comfortable and attractive; but I observed a guest requesting a room change because his wasn't so - the staff promptly complied. It is true that there is no coffee, but at least I found that my packing of an iron was unnecessary. The staff was courteous but didn't always seem to know exactly what they were doing. The location was quite convenient, with downtown being a short bus ride and China Town a short walk away (you can drive to Ricobene's and park across the street). The neighborhood was a little sketchy looking but we felt pretty safe. There was some loudness on the part of other guests on our first night, which was a Friday, but nothing after that. I got a glimpse of the faults that others described, but all-in-all I was happy with the room. It was a good value.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 14 of 27Great Place to if You're Going by Car
This place is essentially new, and the staff bends over backwards to be helpful and friendly. The rooms are big and comfy. Parking is free. Internet is free. Nice workout room, and it's pretty cheap. It's very handy to major freeways. It is somewhat out of the way, in a neighborhood apparently purged some time ago by urban renewal. It's easy to catch a bus, and the subway is about 8 blocks away, through Chinatown. My only real beef with the place: No Coffee. No coffee makers in the room, no pot of coffee in the lobby.
