Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 25Disappointment
There's just nothing to compliment about this facility. Poor Management = Poor Hotel facility, including poor customer service. The room was more like a run down motel. The carpet in the room was so distguishing that I could not bare to take off my shoes. Bottom line you really can call Wilshire Plaza Hotel "A hotel"; it more like a 1/2 star motel. Worst Motel 6

When you first arrive you think this is going to be great - Great lobby area, friendly staff - and then you get to your room where the carpet is stained and dirty, the beds are circa 1970 (as is the decor of the room) and uncomfortable, and the bathroom is....beyond description. Let's just say the bathrooms need serious renovations. Please note, parking is valet only and is $20 night...not terribly unreasonable considering every location in California seems to charge a fee for parking and during my recent trips I've paid as much as $30/night. In short, if you need a place to crash, this hotel will work. It is safe and in a reasonable neighborhood but if you have a thing for cleanliness, this is not your place.

The hotel itself was very nice. The room was clean and the front desk had good service. The location was not that great because nothing was within walking distance. However it is right across the street from a metro station and a bus station, and the hotel staff was helpful in providing information about using these.

We had a wonderful stay. Enjoyed every minute of it. The staff was extremely helpful and if we had a problem, they were quick to correct it. I would definately reccomen this place to anyone. Very friendly people. A+++

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 25Should have paid attention to other reviews
My husband said he has stayed at places that others gave a bad review and it was fine... This was not the case. The lobby is beautiful and it stops there. Rooms are old, carpet worn & dirty, water marks on ceiling, mildew in bathroom, tv options terrible. We were taking a quick family vacation to Universal Studios and were trying to save money. Wish we had spent more...

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 25Great room for the money
What I like in this hotel is that the location is accessible to almost everywhere you want to go. You don't need to rent a car. The subway is just right accross the hotel. My family and I was able to go to the mall in downtown, to Hollywood, to China Town by just using the subway. If you want to go to the airport you can just take the subway and a Fly away bus. Staying at Wilshire Plaza Hotel makes it easier for me to roam around LA at less expense in transportation. It's good to know that being our first time in LA make it easier for us to go around the city because we choose a hotel that is in the right location.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 25Decent stay for the money
This hotel was convenient to where we wanted to be. The maintenance of the hotel was lacking somewhat (peeling wallpaper/paint, loose tiles in the bathroom, etc.). Because of those things, it didn't feel real clean. Looks like it was really nice at one point and has become run-down.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 25Noisy Hotel needs improvements
Hotel is in a very loud neighborhood,do not get room facing main road,Front desk was not very good at listening to customer, after i had ask for a different room away from the noise. Make sure you bring ear plugs, I'm serious!. Also be prepared to pay a extra valet charge that is never mentioned till you go to check out,$xx a day for terrible valet service! Do'nt be in a rush to go anywhere as it will take forever for them to bring you your car, especially at night were the average time to get your car and bring it to you was about 20mins. They only have one guy working valet at nite and sometimes it gets busy with everyone going out about dinner time.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 25You don't get what you pay for
I was extremely disapointed with the property, my room and the service. It might have been a nice hotel some time ago but has been badly maintained. The valet and front desk service weren't friendly or helpful(except for one gentleman who directed us to a great restaurant for dinner). We had to carry our belongings up to our room after we had requested a cart 15mins prior (we were the only ones checking in at midnight) Also, we had to pay valet service for our car to be parked 10 steps away from the lobby (outside) overnight. The property looked unkept, the elevator was filthy. Our room had large stains in the carpet and looked like it was coming off the floor. The room smelled musty and smokey. We had to request another room. The other room was a bit better but the bathroom was not as clean as it should have been. The faucet had toothpaste from the previous guest. No fridge, no micro. The bed was hard, the conforter cheap. The blanket was worn. Our phone didn't work and so on and so on....

Hotel was not bad...the room had water marks on the ceiling and the carpet wasn't 100% clean but overall it was okay. Lobby was nice and clean and the staff was friendly.
