Trip Type: Special Event Review 1 of 75Beautiful hotel, but location not as great as you might think...
With it's location right off sunset boulevard and in between Bel Air and Brentwood, it sounds like the perfect spot. However, there really isn't much to do right nearby, so a car is needed for everything, and the freeway is RIGHT THERE. I mean right outside the window. Opening the patio door or window was out of the question because of the noise. But the hotel is well-built, and the sound doesn't get inside. The views were non-existent due to the haze and fog (aside from the view of the freeway). The bar on the top floor is beautiful, but has the most expensive cocktails I've seen anywhere. In the world. The staff were impeccable, the fitness center decent for a hotel, and the valets were fast and prompt.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 4 of 75Diminishing quality at Hotel Angeleno
We've stayed at Hotel Angeleno over 6 times in the last year because of its proximity to UCLA. Each time, the quality seems to go down. The stay before last, there was a strong mildew smell in the room, but not the bathroom. This time, the shower drain was backed up. The bar on the top floor had abysmal service and terrible drinks for a premium price. On the plus side, the front desk staff is always friendly and helpful, and waived the offensive $28 parking fee each time. The pillow-top beds are very comfortable.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 75Not what I expected for the money
I expected more based upon the overnight rate. No hot water in the shower, non working phone near the bed and an in room coffee maker that overflowed all over the floor. In addition to the room problems, the restaurant and bar were overpriced as was the parking fee. The hotel sits next to an interstate highway, so expect noise.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 75Great Value
Location is convenient but can be a bit noisy as it is practically on the 405. If you need quiet this is NOT the hotel for you. Staff is friendly and check in / check out was quick and efficient. The room / bathroom was clean. The restaurant / bar appears popular - busy each night. Room service was very good and timely with a less than 30 minute wait at 7PM. Parking is $20 plus tip daily but the service is fast and even with the room price the daily rate really is the best in the area. Parents of UCLA students - this hotel is on the residence hall side of campus - short drive on West Sunset to Bellagio Dr and you have quick access to "the hill". We will stay here again.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 75Great room and very comfortable but far from everything
Hotel claimed to have the best views in LA. However, all we saw from our room was the 405 freeway and haze into the distance. Fortunately, it is very soundproof, so the road noise doesn't come in the room. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I was concerned about the valet parking, but the valet staff were top-notch and helpful, and the cost not unreasonable for over-priced LA. Biggest complaint was the need to drive for everything. Fitness room closed at 11, which is odd considering it's in its own building, so noise shouldn't be an issue. The fitness room was boiling hot -- I turned the A/C on, but it was only barely cool by the time I finished my workout.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 10 of 75Wonderful Surprise
We were very pleasantly surprised and loved this hotel. We are already making plans to use it on a future trip, we are exploring ways to visit other Joie de Vivre hotels in other locations. We, and my wife is usually not impressed with hotels, felt the decor and room comfort was excellent. Service was friendly and immediate, room service quick and delicious and location extremely convenient. Loved it.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 11 of 75Cute, convenient, overall good service
The hotel basically met my expectations, and I generally have pretty high expectations so that's not so easy. Clean, chic, and comfortable. I had one front desk interaction that was less than stellar (she made it seem like I was crazy to even ask if early check-in was an option), but overall everyone else was polite and accommodating. I was only there for one night so I don't have a ton to say. I did not check out the bar but I heard great things from those who did. It was convenient to where I needed to be (a wedding in the neighborhood)but I can't comment on how it would be for someone who's there as a tourist. One thing that I was happy to NOT notice was highway traffic noise. Either I was just that tired or the windows did a great job of blocking the sound, but I slept like a baby.
