    We were prepared for the Motel to be basic and modest, but perhaps not to the extent that we found it. Nothing seems to have been updated since 1960-- including the (very dingy) carpet. We were given a room with a mini-fridge sitting in the middle of the floor, plugged in but apparently not working and with its door wide open. We requested a move to another room when a visitor to the guests next door (or maybe they were permanent residents? It kind of seemed that way) stood staring at us through the screen window as we tried to nap on the bed. We were given a room on the 3rd floor of the main building (after first being led up to the roof by mistake). We took the room because we were exhausted, and it did at least offer more privacy. The ceiling was slanted (attic room), furniture very banged up, very mismatched, and the shower head was missing in the bathroom. The view from our window was of the very dirty pool with bunched up astroturf all around it. The whole experience made us feel like we were staying in a Bates Motel sort of setup... which was kind of funny but mostly frustrating since the amount we paid was way to high for the quality. The sheets were clean though-- I'll say that for the place!
