    This place is a real find. The rooms are enormous and exceedingly comfortable. The owners live on site and are accommodating and anxious to please without being intrusive. It all makes for a very relaxing stay.

Shaker Mill Inn is located in West Stockbridge, Mass., in the Berkshire Mountains. The village of West Stockbridge offers fine restaurants, shops and galleries right outside the inn's front door. There are public tennis courts two blocks away, and swimming is available one-half mile away at the town beach on Card Lake.

Originally the site of a stage-coach stop in the early 1800s, the Shaker Mill Inn became the home of inventor Anson Clark, creator of the glass slide used in early photography. The current inn, built in 1990, features original artwork by local artists throughout the inn. Complimentary continental breakfasts are provided in the rooms. Fax service, VCRs and a video library are available upon request.

All guestrooms and suites feature private bathrooms, big-screen televisions with cable channels and balconies or patios. Broiler ovens or microwave ovens, refrigerators and coffeemakers are provided in the guestroom kitchenettes. One- and two-bedroom suites offer fully equipped kitchens with table service for six. Extra blankets and pillows, and oversize towels are included. Fresh flowers and fruit are provided upon arrival. Select suites feature fireplaces.
