    I stayed at the Hotel Solamar- A Kimpton Hotel for a conference taking place at the San Diego Convention Center. The hotel is located a few blocks' walk from the convention center, in a great area (the Gaslight District) with many restaurants and shops. The hotel room was good-sized, very clean and well appointed, and very comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again in a minute, especially at the price I paid- half of what a room at one of the conference headquarters hotels would have cost, at the "special" conference rate!

Location.Standing in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, the Hotel Solamar is a perfect hotel for travelers who require uniqueness of product, vibrancy of décor and a location close to all the sights. Guests flying in to San Diego note the short five mile trip to the hotel. The Hotel Solamar is one block from the Petco Park, home to the San Diego Padres, and three blocks from the San Diego Convention Center. The hotel is three miles from the world-famous San Diego Zoo and just five miles from SeaWorld. Guests are also close to the city's trolley system that links the Gaslamp Quarter with locations throughout the county.
