    Hotel Yasmak Sultan
    This hotel couldn't have been more charming for the size, services and convenience to the main historical points of interest and public transportation. It was small and quiet with the most polite staff but you still had a bar, restaurant, health club, internet services and a beautiful breakfast served each morning in the rooftop restaurant with views of monuments and water. It is extremely good value and I would happily recommend it to anyone, especially if you're a first-time visitor to Istanbul....More

    Erguvan
    The Erguvan Hotel served us well. It's minutes away from Sultanamet square, Blue Mosque, The Grand Bazaar, Topkapi, Aya Sofia. Getting to Taksim, Dolmabache, Galata Brigdge wasn't far either...just take the Tram which was very cheap (1.40L). Everyone told us that great food would be found in Taksim which is ways away, but the surrounding restaurants with terrace view weren't bad either. We loved Buhara which was just a block away. Overall, the hotel was nice and had an old world feel. Breakfast was so-so. The only complaint we had about breakfast was that there was only 1 person working the entire time to serve ~20 people! We recommended she get another hand. Also, like other posters have said, the shower can be a bit messy since there's no curtain. But overall, the staff spoke good english and was helpful in getting us around the city. Wireless internet was also a great plus!...More
