El Mouradi Hammamet Resort
A big resort in Yasmine Hammamet facing the beach. The beach (and the hotel's free area w/bar and chairs) are right across the road. The staff was generally helpful and friendly, and being that the majority of guests at the hotel spoke Spanish, Italian, or French, we were glad that most spoke English. In terms of location, the hotel is about an 8-10 minute walk to the Yasmine Marina, where there are cafes and restaurants, and about a 15 minute ride by cab into Hammamet itself.
The pool area was large and clean. There is a bar there, but it's minimally staffed and we saw no more than one or two staff members available to take drink orders poolside (not a big deal really, with nobody at the bar anyway, there was never a wait if you just walked up). There is an entertainment staff walking around to say hi, get you involved in pool or beach games, or just to have a convo.
The interior of the hotel lobby is rather large and spacious. The hallways and rooms themselves appear a bit dated and could use stronger lighting. We had a double room, meaning two beds pushed together with a slightly uncomfortable gap between the mattresses. The bathroom provided a blowdryer, and closet space was sufficient. The room furniture and carpet on the floor were a bit tired.
Downsides? We made sure when we checked in to request a non-smoking room but were put into one anyway with unmade beds and some garbage laying about (appeared to have belonged to people who checked out that day), although this was immediately corrected. Also, we attempted multiple times call back home to the US, which has to be done through the front desk (no directly international calls from the room). Wether because of the telephone system or the three different staff members' ineptitude, we were unsuccessful multiple times using several numbers and number combinations. They insisted that we had given them invalid numbers to dial!...More
