Hard Rock Hotel
I went online Hotels.com and booked two Pattaya Thailand Hardrock Hotel rooms (one for me and the other for my friend). 24 hours later we arrive to the hotel front desk to check in, and were shocked to find out we had to pay for the rooms again because they didn't receive any reservations for the two rooms. Basically we paying twice for the rooms. This was unfortunate. The front desk clerk assured me she would contact Hotels.com to verify the booking for the two rooms, which took about one hour to verify. The front desk clerk had given us our key to the rooms after I had provided my credit card information for the two rooms that were already booked. It was inconvenient a major hotel chain didn't get the booking. Once the booking was later verified, we did enjoy our stay at the hotel. I would definitely stay there again. The customer service is superb, except when my room was being inspected at 11PM before I checked out of the room. I assumed the room would be available to me until checkout time the following day. They accounted for one missing bottle of water I consumed during my stay....More

Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel
During our stay at the Royal Orchid Sheraton (February 14-18, 2009), the hotel was undergoing an extensive room-by-room renovation. When we checked in, they gave us a newly renovated room which was very nice and contemporary. They also told us that work would be going on between 10 and 6--but we weren't quite prepared for the barage of drilling and other noises that seemed to be coming from the room next door.
Overall, the hotel has great service/staff, two great pools, decent but overpriced restaurants, and a free ferry to the skytrain. Not a bad hotel at all, but I think I'll try another in the area next time. Bangkok is vast (like Los Angeles) so while one area isn't necessarily more central than another for tourists, it might help being much closer to the subway or skytrain, than the river, IMHO....More

Lebua at State Tower
Wonderful hotel, but if you have a Thai wife/girlfriend expect a few minor hassles when trying to return to your suite until they know you. Otherwise a fabulous place to stay. Breakfast was amazing!!...More
