    The Sukhothai Bangkok
I first started staying at The Sukhothai 4 or 5 years ago. It has gone slightly downhill, but it is still a strong 4-star hotel. The staff is always available, cordial, professional and helpful. The rooms need a little TLC. Also, the pool needs cleaned (many little black specks of something throughout). The European head chef I was accustomed to meeting on my previous trips is no longer there, and based on recommendations from friends who live in Bangkok, I did not eat at either of the 3 restaraunts. Location is convenient for me, as it is nearby the offices with which I work. It is close to the Night Bazaar and Thai Kick Boxing, but, like most other things in Bangkok, everything is just a cab ride away (or tuk-tuk). One nice advantage to its location is it is not on the smelly riverfront. I know the river is an "attraction" in Bangkok, but it can be sickening, especially during the summer months....More

    Santhiya Resort & Spa
There is no mention on the website that the boat service does not run, so to get anywhere else on the island you must take an hour long shuttle ride that was very pricey. They only offer the service at certain times, while we were there it was only 10pm that night. They told us we had to take the shuttle because taxis wont go all the way there, but we contacted a taxi service and they picked us up for a lot cheaper. We expressed our dissatisfaction with the fact that we couldnt leave the hotel except on their timetable and all they would do is appologize. The night we got in, we ordered a shuttle to pick us up and they said it would be a half an hour. 2 and a half hours later they came and still tried to charge us full price. It's such a shame because the hotel itself is beautiful but I would never recommend it to anyone....More
