CENTRAL HOTEL
Wonderful location, just one block to walk to Arlanda Express (train to/from airport), and a bit farther to Central Station. Nice glass atrium for breakfast area, with outdoor seating adjacent. Free computer with internet access in lobby that was never too crowded; wireless hook-up in your own room cost extra. Very quiet, as hotel rooms are all away from the street. Very secure--room key required to get onto each floor after you exit the elevator. Rooms are a bit small, and one trash can in the room always seemed to be overlooked by housekeeping (it was full when we arrived, and twice they didn't empty it during our stay). Easy access to bus (return stop is just out the front door, with departure for opposite direction down and across the street) and T-bahn (underground train), and lot of conveniences right there in the neighborhood (convenient stores, restaurants, cafes, shopping). Overall a very good value; I would definitely stay here again....More

Hotel Birger Jarl
We stayed in a newly remodeled room. Very modern, swedish decor but also very comfortable. The room was very clean and the linens felt new. The bathroom was adequate (very clean) but lacked a hair dryer.
The staff was always courteous and helpful in every way possible. They assisted with tour arrangements as well.
Breakfast was included in the rate and it was fine, nothing exceptional.
The hotel is touted as being next to Gamla Stan or "Old Town" (ten minute walk) as well as being near the larger shopping boulevard, opera house, palace, etc. You can see most of the big sights without ever having to venture onto public transportation.
Having stayed during the off-season (January) the rate was very reasonable. Peak months might cost a small fortune, but that's Stockholm for you....More
