The Jalousie Plantation
We stayed at Jalousie for 4 nights and paid for 2 (they had a "4 for 2" deal). The hotel is fine, but it is not that special, and if we had had to pay full price, it would have been a complete ripoff. While in St Lucia, we also visited rooms in Jade Mountain, Anse Chastenet, and Ladera. If we had to do it again, we would do Jalousie if we could get the half-price deal. If not, we'd go to Anse Chastenet. If we had a ton of money, we'd stay at Jade Mountain. If we didn't care about beach access, we'd go to Ladera....More

Discovery at Marigot Bay
This hotel provided the best service of any place I have ever stayed, and I've stayed at countless exclusive hotels in many places throughout the world. From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, each and every person we came in contact with was genuinely pleasant and extremely accomodating. The hotel also provides a fabulous value for the money, although it is expensive, it includes water taxis and boat rides to other beaches, into town, and to restaurants off the property for no additional charge. It also includes a generous breakfast, and a full refrigerator in your room stocked with beer, bottled water, and fruit juices daily. Also, everywhere we went the hotel sent us with a cooler of complimentary drinks. This seems minor, but it probably saved us hundreds of dollars at resort prices. The food in all of the hotel restaurants was outstanding, as was the service. The rooms were huge and extremely comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and very well kept, and the pool was lovely. We will definately be returning to the Discovery as soon as possible!...More

The Jalousie Plantation
We stayed at 3 different resorts on St Lucia while we were there. The Jalousie Plantation was a very beautiful setting between the Pitons. The room was very nice and service by the staff excellent. The only down side was a very, very, pricey menu in the restaurants and the fact that they are a little stuffy on the dress code. I didn't bring dress slacks so I was not allowed to eat in the main dinner room. That kinda' ticked me off. I mean, you're on vacation and paying these people. A nice pair of jeans should be ok but I was denied access. Also, the other guests weren't very friendly either. Snobby people abound here. We make a very comfortable living (you couldn't afford this place if you don't) but I enjoy people and I didn't like the attitudes we encountered from other guests. I wouldn't stay here again but not because of the hotel staff or setting. It was just overpriced and unfriendly. There are better places to stay on the island and a lot more affordable and friendly....More
