The hotal staff was fantastic. I tried to arrange a day trip to Martinique. It fell through because trips there now seem to require a night stay over...the ferries don't go and return on the same day. Anyway, the hotel staff checked out several options...including airlines to see if I could get over there. They even offered to call airlines for me to see if they could find some way to get me over there....without my asking them to call the airline. They took some initiative and called me with updates constantly. Now that's what I call service.
They are not on the beach but you can walk there in 2 minutes and frankly the hotel has more charm and character than the ones actually on the beach like the Royal St Lucian (I went inside them to compare) so don't let the non beach location dissuade a booking....More

Ginger Lily Hotel
Great location within Rodney Bay. The young staff member was not really helpful but others were excellent. Rooms a relly nice with separate room for cooking, etc.
Plan out your in island travel because the taxis are expensive.

The Jalousie Plantation
There are other reviews that mention the same items. This is a beautiful location, the rooms are nice and some have beautiful water and piton views. The fact that you have to take a shuttle all over the grounds is a bit of a hassle and we waited 20 minutes for a shuttle at one time and missed the sunset at our dinner location because of it.
The worst part of the hotel is the food. Not only is it overpriced but it is really bad. We had a lunch that consisted of a cheeseburger and a turkey sandwich (It doesn't get much easier than that). The hamburger was $15, covered about half of the bun and tasted horrible. It was overcooked and tasteless. The turkey pannini consisted of three slabs of what looked like "turkey roll" and tasted like bologna. That was the last meal that we ate there. We had a car and were fortunate to be able to go out for lunch and dinner each day.
If you stay here I think a car is a REQUIRMENT so that you can get off the grounds to get edible food....More
