Hotel Reykjavik Centrum
Good Central location, a little pricey for what you get. Their Internet was down my entire stay, but found free wireless at a bar nearby. I thought the breakfast came with the room when I booked, but it was reasably priced anyway....More

CenterHotel Klopp
My friend and I stayed at Klopp for 4 nights in early Nov.
Beware if they give you a street level room as on Sat night (main party night in town) we were awaken by a drunk banging on our window for a persistent 1/2 - 3/4 of an hrs. around 5am (bars/clubs close at 6am). We could easily hear the band playing in the bar across the st.
Otherwise the location of the hotel good was OK as it's very near the main street of shopping, restaurants and bars (overrated, not really different from any other city's main shopping st.).
The room was OK. As someone said we were there to sight see, not hangout in the room. None the less based on the TV reception (horrible) I would have guessed that it wasn't cable, but do to the fact that there were a few repeated, of very few, channels I know it was cable.
Lighting in the room was on the dark side.
Otherwise the room was good. Clean w/ comfortable beds (2 singles pushed together) and the decent bathroom.
The breakfast was decent, fruits, bread, cereal, yogurt, coffee, hot chocolate, orange and apple juice among a couple other items.
Folks at the front desk seemed a little reserved (maybe the fact that their economy just went bankrupt had something to do with it) but helpful.
Overall it was a good place to stay, just don't get a ground floor room and don't expect much from the room....More

CenterHotel Skjaldbreid
This hotel came with a great rate, so we didn't know exactly what to expect. The Center Hotel chain are usually pretty trendy nice looking places. This was definitely the worst in terms of decor.
They let us check in when our 7 am flight landed, so that was very nice. However they gave us a room with 1 queen instead of 2 singles. They switched when we complained. Housekeeping was good to leave us alone when they knew we were sleeping, and to clean when we were out exploring.
Yes, it's loud, it faces the main shopping street and people are out all night drinking and making noise. But so were we. So no complaints from us.
The breakfast was awesome and included.
The front desk staff tried to be helpful, but one lady in particular seemed to screw up 2 of our tours so we started booking stuff on our own just to be safe.
Overall, for the price it was exactly perfect....More
