ITC Mughal Agra
I know I shouldn't write a review about getting kicked out of the spa pool area, but this is the main thought that sticks in my mind after my stay here.
It's a great hotel, nice grounds, good staff. A bit expensive for food and drinks, but probably to be expected. The location is also good, though you won't be walking the neighborhood, most likely.
But, my main memory is that around 7:00 PM I went down to what is clearly the best pool area in the complex, and after taking my shoes off and stepping in the water, was approached by staff and told that I had to either have used the spa to enter this pool, or pay something like $40. Bear in mind there was not a soul around, the pool would only be open for another hour, and I was a paying hotel guest. A ridiculous policy, and it left a bad taste in my mind, coupled with the fact that they should have easily overlooked this. Or, at the very least, post some signs indicating this policy! There were none to be found.
This lowered my overall impression, but don't let me sour grapes affect you, it's a solid hotel....More

Trident, Agra
I was looking for a safe, reliable, well-serviced place with easy access to the Taj Mahal and other sites but without the chaos of Agra. I'm a woman traveling around India and my own and had heard too many stories from other travelers about the difficulties with accommodation in Agra. I hunted around to find a really good rate for the Trident Hilton. It was such a pleasure to arrive after a long day driving from Jaipur. The employees are lovely - very friendly and helpful. They upgraded my room for no particular reason. The room was large and very well resourced. It was very hot in Agra but the AC in the room was very good and there were no problems with electricity cuts. The food was great and (for a top hotel) reasonably priced. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer....More
