    Sari Pan Pacific Hotel
If you want to be in the center of things in Jakarta, and not pay five-star rates for a five-star room, stay here. The room is as spacious as you get at a Marriott or the Hyatt, but it is at the price of a budget hotel. Also, with traffic a nightmare in Jakarta, you want to be centrally-located, and the sari pan cannot be beat -- halfway to Kota (chinatown) and the clubs, and to menteng down south....More

    Mercure Resort Sanur
The basis of the hotel is there, with a good location and nice grounds - but if you run into a problem expect to fight to have to get it fixed. Booked a deluxe twin - arrived at hotel after midnight to be given a double bedded room. When asked to speak to the manager we were told there was no manager, not even a duty manager available. Room was adequate, though bathroom small, damp and not inviting, and main shower did not work. Next morning we went back to reception and insisted on changing to a twin room and that we wanted to speak to the manager. We were told our room would be changed and ready by 2pm and the manager would contact us. At 2pm still no room and needless to say no news from the manager. Eventually after much fighting we got given a new room. This room was supposedly the same standard as the previous room, but much more spacious and a much bigger and airier bathroom - hint if you stay here in a "deluxe" room, if you want space ask for a ground floor room. Depsite several requests to see the manager we eventally left 5 days later without ever meeting him/her and the staff attitude was pretty much take it or leave it. This is a real pity as the resort has great potential....More
