I have no complaints at all about the hotel, it was spotless and the staff was great and the price was good. But it's a few miles from the old city, so next time if I'm alone or with a friend I might look for a home stay, they're quite common in the area. But if you want to book well ahead, this is a good place, and the bus to the old city is half a block from the hotel....More

Hotel Opatija
First of all, the staff was helpful and gracious. Many employees spoke English quite well. Location is a short walk from most Opatija attractions. Breakfast buffet was outstanding, has to be one of the best offered on the entire continent and to be included in the room price was a very good value. Staff even supplied us with a 220 converter plug we needed, the one we had purchased worked fine in Austria but not in eastern Europe. The only negative was the taxi company the hotel arranged to transport us to the train station charged us a higher rate than what the hotel quoted....More

Hotel Dubrovnik
We were placed in the original part of the hotel, a very quiet room (double windows) even though facing city's main square. No coffee in the room, no tissues (e.g. Kleenex) in the bath room room, no ironing board, or iron in the room, no individual control over cooling/heating the room, had difficulty obtaining a phone book (only yellow pages in the room) at front desk ( "a guest borrowed it, we don't know who?" did get it a day later.)...More
