    Shivas Village Hotel
    wonderful hotel, really quite cheap for how nice it is, but it is 67km from heraklion, so if u want to be in the beautiful south of crete its wonderful, very nice and inexpensive, my only complaint is the distance from the port. However, the area is very close to most of the major ruins of crete and within 20minutes of most major minoan palace ruins excluding knossos....More

    Classical King George Palace
    This was our third country in three weeks and WOW were we surprised not only by the wonderful city of Athens but by this hotel of 5 star standards. We were greeted by friendly English speaking staff, and a wonderful bottle of Greek wine in the room. They reccomended terrific tours and places to dine at such as HELLS KITCHEN which is EXCELLENT (located behind TOWN HALL) and the three island tour which is a great way to get a taste for the islands. Every night the bed is turned down in addition to the housekeeping. This recently renovated upscale hotel has certainly exceeded our expectations. The location is PRIME. On Sintagma Square, we walked to the Acropolis in 15mins as well as many other parts of the city, though the metro is directly outside the hotel and in the square and very efficient and clean. The hotel staff all spoke English and were extremely accommodating. We arrived expecting the typically small EU room sizes though this was spacious, very clean, beautifully decorated, and the bed was extremely comfortable. I would visit this hotel again and recommend to all. The fitness area is very small equipped with two treadmills, one life-cycle and one workout apparatus of weights. The pool and spa are enough for short term use, not major lap workouts, but it is all you need when visiting this city since you should be out on the streets walking seeing the sites and enjoying the great shops and restaurants and not wasting time inside. I LOVED everything about ATHENS and this Hotel was a big part of that....More
