Sofitel Le Sphinx Cairo
The hotel is within a short walking distance to the Great Pyramids & Sphinx, but prepared to be hassled as you are walking out the front door. However, the view of the pyramids as you walk towards it, is pretty surreal--if you can ignore everyone trying to approach you. The hotel is in okay condition and the rooms are modern and comfortable. The concierge is fairly helpful, but don't trust them to book anything (e.g. taxis, tours, etc). They won't try to get you the best price. The main downsides are the proximity to choice restaurants and distance from the Cairo airport. Due to the location of the hotel being in Giza, it can take more than an hour in heavy traffic from downtown Cairo. All in all, I would recommend staying here if your primary purpose is to see the pyramids and leave....More

Novotel Cairo Airport
The hotel was inexpensive, fortunately, and all the more unusual since it's so close to the airport, but the shuttle wasn't very user friendly. I wondered at one point if the taxi desk was inside the door in hopes people would get fed up waiting for the shuttle and pay too much for a taxi to the airport.
