MONTERREY HOTEL
The location cannot be beat. In less than a minute you are in the heart of historic Cartagena (for less than half the price of the ones within the walls). We got a view of the "Reloj" entrance of historic Cartagena, probably the best view in all of Colombia of a historic town. Unfortunately we were there on a Saturday night and were very loud, until late hours of the night. If you are not bothered by the noise, then ask for the rooms that face the street and the view will not disappoint, you can sit outside your large balcony, grab a beer or wine and enjoy the music that emanates for the "ballenato" and "salsa" dancing club next door; however if you are one that cannot sleep with any noise you WILL be miserable!, ask for a room at the back of the building instead, but you will loose some of the charm the hotel offers....More

I was expecting a better room for the money I paid. I chose a non-smoking room and I was assigned a smoking room with old rug, poor lighting, no ventilation and a bed as hard as a rock. When I complained, I was told the room will be changed. It never happened. Very bad experience....More
