Pelican Bay Resort at Lucaya
My wife, two year old son and I recently visited the Bahamas for a wedding and decided that Pelican Bay was the best choice for us. Despite that everyone else that was there for the wedding was staying at another location. Upon arriving we were greeted with big smiles and even bigger kindness. Perhaps it was because they were not full but we were allowed to check in at 12:30 instead of the normal 3:00pm. Our rooms were exceptionally clean and spacious with an amazing view of the pool and the bay. One day we even had opportunity to watch a helicopter land on one of the luxurious yatchs docked outside. My son slept on the sofa bed while my wife and I maintained our privacy in the the bedroom. Every morning we had a small assortment of pastries delivered to your room as well as a print out of the days forecast.
The second night at the hotel my son had an asthma attack and like always we gave him his normal treatment. Unfortunately, it was more serious than normal. At 3am we ran down to the hotel lobby asking them to call an ambulance because he need to see a doctor immediately. The security guard on duty happen to be in the lobby at the time and did not hesitate to suggest that he rush us there because was not sure how long a ambulance would take. Fortunately the hospital was only 7-8 minutes away. We spent the next 6 hours there with some very caring and attentive nurses and doctors. My son has had to go to the hospital before and I had never been scared because I knew he would be okay. Being in another country, away from our doctor it made for an extremely frightening experience. We had even made arrangements to leave early to get him back to his doctor. After the ordeal both his doctor and doctors in the Bahamas thought we would be just fine if we stayed for the duration of our trip. They were right. The rest of the trip went without incident. Furthermore, absolutely everyone of the staff at the hotel knew of the situation and would regularly check on our son. I ...More

Aquarium needed to be cleaned!! Very scummy, which wasn't like that last time I was there.
Prices on food are totally ridiculous - $18 for pancakes, $38 for a plate of spaghetti, $6 for a bottle of water, $3.25 for a plastic cup of Diet Coke. Are you KIDDING?
