Great location, service and cleanliness needs some improvement

Overall, the Windward Passage is an OK hotel. The location is great, as I was traveling on business and it afforded me a good place to be for what I needed. The front staff seemed friendly enough, but the service isn't much compared with stateside hotel service. Perhaps it is a cultural thing I'm used to in the US. The dining room for breakfast is OK. The food was fine, but service was just average. The staff isn't overly friendly and at times seemed like they weren't interested in being there. The amenities are OK, but the workout room is ridiculous...cheap equipment and I'm sure it isn't used much, as I would suspect many don't workout on vacations. It's a great place to run along the harbor though, if you're a runner or walker. The rooms were clean, but the carpets are dark and you just never can trust that they are very clean. I would rather see tile in there, but I know that's an expensive change for them. Overall, I'd say this hotel is average, but the location is good for business travelers and proximity good to Frenchtown and downtown. Surrounding neighborhood is a bit gritty.

Not bad

Move this hotel up the hill and it would be great. It was a decent place and close enough to walk to shops and restaurants, but a little scary at night. I would stay there again.

is not what you are looking for there

Beach is far away, heavy 24 h traffic is just outside, parking is raff, free punch is diluted, but you can walk to downtown. After waitin for nearly an hour in restorant were told that our cook is good but he is the only one we have.
