Great Price, So-So Location

Overall, I got a result. However, I am a single male travelling by myself, not afraid/uncomfortable of taking public transportation. The hotel itself is very nice, standard fair. The worst thing about it is that it is located in a central business district, so that the neighborhood is desolate at night, but for the homeless people (tons of them). However, the location is kind of central to everything you might want to do in the city (except the beaches), and I found Rio to be quite accessible for a large city. Can't wait to go back to the city. If I were willing to spend more money, I might stay closer to the beach. But otherwise, the hotel is fine.

Ok if you need to stay in the center

This hotel is OK if you need to stay in the center. It is well located, functional, but nothing special. If you do stay at this hotel, avoid taking any of the taxis out in front of the hotel as they seem to specialize in ripping you off. I took one once and with the meter running it cost me 70Rs on the return in a different taxi it cost 23Rs.

There was no alarm clock, no hotel directory, no explanantion of any services, tv didn't work, phone didn't really work. It was very clean but there were lots of the small things that should be expected that were missing. I would not reccommend this hotel to anyone who hasn't been to Rio before or to someone who is going to try to do anything in the hotel.
