Description

Location. The Windsor Court Hotel, located in the Central Business District of New Orleans, La., stands one block from the French Quarter and two blocks from Bourbon Street. Within two blocks are the Warehouse Arts District and the 140 shops and restaurants along the Mississippi's Riverwalk. The Windsor Court Hotel earned recognition on Conde Nast's Top 100 Hotels and Travel + Leisure 500 lists.

Hotel Features. The hotel's English heritage is echoed in original works by Gainsborough, Reynolds and other masters. Evenings at Le Salon include champagne, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and jazz. The Grill Room is an unadulterated Southern steakhouse with live nightly entertainment, while The Wine Cellar boasts 10,000 vintages that include a rare collection. The Terrace creates Creole and Cajun-spiced dinners, while the Polo Club Lounge presents a wide selection of wines, martinis, cognacs and cigars, along with live entertainment on the weekends. Recreational offerings include a 75-foot rooftop pool and health club. The fitness area provides fresh fruit, water, free weights, mats, exercise balls, plasma-television-mounted cardiovascular machines, weight-training equipment, and saunas. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided throughout the hotel.

Guestrooms. The 322 English-themed guestrooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, and walk-out balconies or bay windows in select rooms. Beds are dressed with 285-thread count Italian Fili D'oro linens and ivory-toned embossed coverlets. Turndown service is enhanced with imported chocolates or pralines. All guestrooms provide coffeemakers, minibars and complimentary laptop-compatible in-room safes. Suites feature parquet-floored entryways, Asian art accents, kitchens with stocked refrigerators, and French doors that separate bedrooms from living areas. Vanity alcoves include lit mirrors, and some suite bathrooms include bidets.

Expert Tip. Enjoy evening tea service at the elegant Le Salon three nights a week complete with Wedgwood china, petite sandwiches, truffles, scones, lemon curd and Devonshire cream. A harpist or a string quartet provide background music.
