Trip Type: Special Event Review 1 of 109needs improvement
1. The water in the sink ran brown like there was dirt or rust in the lines. 2. There was no trash can in the room. 3. The A/C was broken. They sent maintenance up there to look at it but he didnt fix it right. He was in our room till 1130pm working on it. It never worked right. We woke up at 5AM dripping wet with sweat because it was completely out. It was miserable.

Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 109A predominantly positive experience
I stayed at the West End (soon to be Crowne Plaza) for 4 days while attending a conference at a hotel located about a mile away. The West end rates were significantly lower, and they provided a free shuttle service to the other hotel - and to other locations upon request. This made it very convenient to stay there. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was generally clean. However, housekeeping needs a little improvement - more careful vacuuming, dusting, arrangement of pillows. Staff were very friendly and accommodating while working around construction hassles. They responded quickly to requests. I hope some of the glitches get worked out once construction is complete (for example, my dry cleaning was not sent out in a timely fashion). I'm glad I called ahead to find out where to register until their regular space is completed - go to the 9th floor. This is also the current location for the complimentary breakfast, which was substantial and tasty.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 109Construction and Area
This hotel is going through a major renovation and should really warn potenial customers of such. It really should have a disclaimer. In addition to the construction, there should be a warning of the neighborhood it is in. You would never want to walk outside your hotel at night. EVER!!

Trip Type: Special Event Review 4 of 109Under Construction
The hotel was under major construction and we were not warned at all. There was no first floor lobby (all blocked off), passenger drop off area (all blocked off)or parking around the hotel (again, all blocked off). There were no signs on the outside directing guests to the entrance either(which was almost completely blocked by temporary wood walls). We entered through the garage area at night so we could not see the front entrance, and had to call in the morning and ask how to get out of the hotel. The staff was helpful enough to help us get out of the place though.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 109Great location for the price
I went to Dallas for a competition at the Convention Center and this was in walking distance. The hotel is under construction and some hallways still missing base boards, staff friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast with eggs, sausage, waffles and more. Pool looked dirty so we did not go in it (I am picky that way) Overall liked the hotel, location, and price.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 109Great location for money
Very security concious, probably because of area. But enjoyed stay and was happy with service. Hot breakfast was not too bad. Best I have had outside of resort style hotels. Will be back if they keep price reasonable.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 109Disappointed stat
When we stepped off the elevator to our room the hallways smelled like cat urine! The carpets were stained and they were doing some remodeling and the vending machines were in the middle of the hallway. The room was pretty clean and comfortable. Service was good. The pool was less than inviting. It was green and not very clean. I would not stay here again until I knew it had been renovated.

The hotel is currently undergoing a massive renovation. Cab drivers never come by making transportation difficult.

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 109A work in progress
The staff were extremely pleasant and accomodating. The Hotel is undergoing renovations, but the rooms could still have been better kept. Rooms were small, furniture was outdated (like something out of the 60's/70's) and the carpets were worn. Bathroom fixtures were in a state of disrepair (cosmetically), but functioned flawlessly. The Lobby being on the 9th. floor, and the charge for parking were a little disconcerting. The free breakfast buffet, albeit prosaic, was very good. The elevators were unique, but had seen better days. I'd recommend that the elevators be kept, and simply fixed up. The door to my room would not close behind me so care needed to be given to make sure it closed entirely. This hotel has excellent bones, and urban kitch, and is in a great location. I'll be interested in watching the renovations progress.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 109Great Service, Grossly Unclean
The hotel personnel were always pleasant and helpful. They provided free printing access, were fair with additional charges, and responded to requests immediately. This did NOT make up for how poorly maintained the hotel was overall or how dirty the rooms were. I had to use one of our washcloths to wipe down all the surfaces in the room because they were so dusty that one finger swipe revealed dusting had not happened in weeks (I have not ever done this in a hotel before). There was a large toenail on the floor and on 4 of our 6 "clean" and rolled towels there were black, curly hairs. The hotel just felt dingy, with old stained carpet, low ceilings, and walls and floors cracked and peeling due to water damage.

the location was what I was looking for. I was looking for price. I was going to see people from 8 am til 8 pm West did what I need it to do for me. It was clean, comfortable price below others and a great location. I would go back next time I needed to go to Dallas.
