Needs a lobby-atamy

Great hotel, but the lobby just doesn't do it for me. Everytime I had go in or out of the hotel, I felt like I was walking through someone's living room. Not a big deal in the morning, but n the evening, you have to navigate through people eating dinner or having a nightcap. I don't want to look at them and I am sure they would rather not have to look at me, but alas neither of us has a choice...

Good for Chicago

Compared to other hotel experiences I've had in Chicago, W Chicago City Center is a refreshing change. The downside is that the room was small but this is a typical complaint I have in downtown hotels in any large city. Not much of a view either. I had a corner room with 2 windows, which was a plus sort of. I had to keep the blinds down on one window because straight across from me was an office building and from my room I could practically read the monitor on the guy's desk. Otherwise, service was terrific, bed comfortable, and great exercise room.

Nice Room

The room was very nice. It was smaller than the normal W Hotel rooms, more of a NY style hotel room.

if you have the pleasure of staying in a W hotel, definitely make it happen. they have a flair for hospitality! the amenities are thoughtful (and their 'whatever, whenever' policy did deliver in an extra less-than-usual item for me that i'd forgotten, thanks!), the bed is by far the MOST comfortable of all my hotel stays (it let me fall right back asleep when the inevitable chicago jack hammer at 7 AM started going) the lobby is fun, the hotel (converted from an old chicago hotel) is so pretty, it's all good. this hotel is definitely in my top 10. i'm excited they're finally building one in austin :) it's not the cheapest, but it's not really so expensive for what you're getting... so, so worth it! the only downside at city center is that internet in your room is at an additional fee, but you can use their lobby wireless for free, so it wasn't all bad.

Not bad

Completely satisfied with the overall stay... A bit disappointed that the room wasn't the usual W hotel- much more catered to the business person, no frills decor. It is in the business district so it's expected, but I was hoping for more at a W.

Excellent Service & Convenient Location

I have stayed at this property on several business trips. The service has always been excellent - the concierge always has great suggestions for dinner and entertainment - and the hotel is well maintained. If you arrive for the first time in the evening, be aware that the "lobby" has a bar/nightclub look and feel to it, as is typical of W Hotels. On this trip, my wife joined me for the weekend and enjoyed the hotel's very convenient location in the heart of the financial district with the theater district and numerous fine restaurants within a short walk. If you want to venture farther as we did, there are multiple CTA train stations nearby (the hotel is in the "loop"), and cabs are always available, so the whole city of Chicago is easily accessible. The rates I got on Hotels.com made this latest stay a downright bargain compared to the rates I paid booking directly with the hotel. The room was one of the small ones, but it was still comfortable and served its purpose, especially when I was the lone occupant. If you want one of the bigger rooms, be sure to book one with two queen beds or inquire as to which of the rooms with a single bed is bigger. Overall, a great place to stay when visiting downtown Chicago.

Outstanding hotel

I had the "wonderful room" which lived up to its name. It was small, but very well appointed. Very comfortable king size bed, plasma TV, nice shower. Neat lighting in the room with a light around the bed, dimmers. Staff was helpful, and got me checked in hours earlier than scheduled as soon as they were able to.

Amazing Hotel and Service

They were very friendly and actually upgrated us to a newly remodeled room! Had a great experience!

Great Place

My daughter and I stayed overnight and attended a concert in the area. The room was very unique and kinda retro style, which proved to be a great experience for my teenager. The service was excellent, very nice staff, and the location made for easy access to stores, restaurants, and the concert venue. Valet parking worked out wonderfully and I was even allowed to leave my car at the hotel while shopping downtown. I would stay at this hotel again and recommend it. And if my daughter says, "it's cool" then it is cool. Thanks W Chicago Center for a great hotel experience!!
