    I thought it was a great room for the money. Located right in the downtown, it was fairly easy to find. The road is more of an alley, so look for that instead of a "main" road. Parking on the street is free at night, and we were able to find parkng spots very near the hotel. This was just a stopover on the way to the Loire Valley, and it accomdated us perfectly. There were only two of us, so don't know how larger groups/families, would like it. Rooms are small but comfortable. Staff and reception were very nice and helpful.

The Volcan Hotel, situated a block away from the historic center of Clermont-Ferrand, is a modern hotel with touches of regional style. Air conditioned guest rooms are decorated simply in light, neutral colors with warm toned fabrics, and furnished in polished wood, with lamps made from the local lava rock. Each room has a safe, satellite TV and wireless Internet access. Bathrooms are equipped with showers and hairdryers.

Breakfast is served buffet-style in the basement dining room. Multilingual staff are on hand to help with local excursions and can also arrange dry cleaning on request. When the front desk is unattended, electronic check in is possible with a credit card. Those keen to explore will find the Place de Jaude and the tourist office are a few hundred meters away. Activities including horse riding and parasailing are available in the area, and the Vulcania theme park is 25 kilometers away. Clermont- Ferrand Airport is 8 kilometers from the hotel.
