Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center

Left me wishing I had not deviated from my normal travel plans

No free WiFi, shower/tub was kinda poorly built/installed....the tub sagged when you would get in it. Not what I expected in a "nice" hotel. Room service was mysteriously unavailable midday...after we had bypassed all places to eat just to get back to the hotel and relax with room service. Had to load up in the car again just to go eat...most inconvenient thing. I was not impressed this stay. I had stayed in one of their more expensice, ocean-front rooms several months ago and it was pretty much the same. I will say that the room service is AFFORDABLE and GOOD. Last stay the room service made up for the missing features....not so much this time (since room service decided to close unbeknownst to travelers).

Roadside Dump!

Beds hard as a rock, rooms not very clean, noise throughout the night, bathtub backed up six inches deep. Very expensive for a "no-tell motel" type of experience. Very disappointing all around.

The sports facilities, the indoor pool linkage to outdoor pool and the nearness of the beach all made it so easy for us to manage our three children everyone having fun at arms lenghth. Also the age limit for the jacuzi

Good for people on a budget

This hotel was not too bad, it had it's own private beach area which was nice. This hotel is a 15 minute car ride from the actual VA beach and boardwalk, from the reviews we thought it was right there but we ended up taking a cab to the boardwalk. The hotel customer service were very nice.

Could be better

The beds were not comfortable & when you took a shower the water came up as well. It felt like I was taking a bath along with my shower.The private beach was nice and probably the best part of the hotel. I thought it would be closer to the main strip so that was a little disappointing. Overall not the worst but far from being the best.

"Swamped"

I have never heard the "we're swamped" excused used by so many different departments in a hotel in the same stay. TradeWinds was unable to seat our group for 15 minutes one morning, because they were "understaffed", and we're talking about a buffet here. There were only a few tables in use as we waited. Later, at the bar, we went through 3 different bar tenders in 10 minutes, and when we wanted to leave, the poor fella who ended up filling in (he looked like a pencil pusher) had no idea who ordered what or how to work the registers. No attempts were made to service our room until around 5:30pm, when we had returned to get dressed for a wedding. We had to turn them away. Also, the pool area was out of towels for the majority of our stay. One very good thing to say: The hotel offers free bike rentals, and they were abundant and in decent shape. We had a nice ride along the nearby bike bath.

Staff and parking is terrible.

The staff as a whole seems fairly lazy and grumpy at times. Certainly not at all happy looking. The service in the restaurant and bar is sooo slow. Severely under staffed. The parking is un-describeably awful. I had to fight to get a spot and there's people parking all over the place blocking several spots, parking sideways and clogging up the whole area. The hallways at night are extremely loud with kids and young adult running up and down the halls all hours of the night. The rooms are great but laid out terrible for a good night sleep. They put the bed closest to the door by the main hallway which makes it very noisey where your sleeping. Even the staff mentioned that the management can't seem to staff properly or manage the employees. That is my take, take for what its worth. the place has such a potential for a nice stay but until management steps up it will remain the same.

Worth the Price

Expensive... but definitely worth it. Never had to leave the hotel since the beach was right there. My favorite part? I could grab a pina colada on the way to and from the beach!! :)
