don't judge this book by it's cover

I always stay in this neighborhood when travelling in NY. It's safe, quiet, clean, and close to 4 different subway routes (also easy to find a cab). The room is in an old brownstone, so it kind of feels like your own apartment. The hall and stairway are a bit patched up (some holes, some wires) due to renovations and would most likely turn off some snooty customers, but once you get into the room everything changes. The room was SPOTLESS, well-lit and large. There were lovely high ceilings, flat screen television w/cable comfortable (and large) murphy bed, and a great sized kitchenette. There was a pull out queen sofa bed which was pretty bad to sleep on but hopefully you won't need to. The bathroom was terrific as well, as I was traveling with 3 other women and there was actually room enough for three of us to get ready at one time, which is almost impossible in ANY hotel. There isn't an on-site manager on the weekends, but I believe there is someone there during the week. We called the manager when we got to the airport and they met us at the door to let us in the building and show us our room. There was a contact person available by phone 24-7, however, if we needed anything. Overall, it was a terrific value for the money spent, as it was cheaper than many hotels in Brooklyn, let alone Manhattan. It's within walking distance of Central Park and has wonderful, friendly neighbors. I would stay there again and again.
