Trip Type: Special Event Review 1 of 16What I expected
This hotel was pretty much what I expected from the other reviews. It was comfortable, but being used to a king sized bed, it was difficult to sleep in the double bed with my husband who likes his space. I forgot about the shower that the other reviewers had complained about until we got there. The shower has a curtain, but not a door, or even anything separating it from the rest of the bathroom floor. It does cause about half of the floor to get wet. I found that as long as you keep everything off of the floor, it wasn't much of an issue. The lighting was also a little weird, so other than the shower itself, and using the hairdryer, I didn't spend much time getting ready in there anyway. It was in a nice neighborhood, with lots of shops and cafes, close to the river, and lots of popular destination sites such as Federation Square and the Aquarium. It was next door to the Eureka Tower, which was a convenient thing to do on a rainy day. It was also close to Flinders Street Station and the City Circle Tram (which is free), not to mention several other tram stations, and that made it easy to get around. Breakfast was a little spendy for something that would be included in a continental breakfast here in the U.S., but the convenience of it outweighed the cost.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 16GREAT LOCATION NEAR THE YARRA RIVER NEAR SHOPS, RESTAURANTS AND NIGHT LIFE
GREAT PRICE FOR THE LOCATION...ALTHOUGH IN GENERAL HOTEL PRICES IN AUSTRALIA ARE TERRIBLY OVERPRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET....EVEN THOUGH THE STANDARD OF LIVING IS LOWER IN AUSTRALIA THIS HOTEL COST ABOUT TWICE AS MUCH AS WHAT YOU WOULD PAY IN AMERICA BUT THAT IS TRUE FOR ALL ACCOMODATIONS IN AUSTRALIA.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 16Great location
The location of this hotel is perfect. It is right on the southbank by the river and accross from the train station. The rooms are are clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful. The walkway infront of the hotels on the river have outside dining which is great and very relaxing. The view of the city skyline from there is incredible.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 16Great Value!
Overall, a fantastic stay. I was at this hotel for over a week, and found the room to be comfortable and just what I needed. Amongst other things, I liked the ability to make my own snacks/meals in the room, as when I travel I hate eating all the time in restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a good hotel, but isn't a hotel snob - meaning if you don't need mahogany and walnut. The bed was comfortable, and the room was contemporary. Location was great - Southbank. If you don't know Melbourne, it's just on the other side of the river (a very, very short walk across on the foot bridge) from all the action. It does feel a bit "touristy" over on that side of the river, but I felt safe, and it wasn't loud. Only downside was the budget-style service at the front desk. For example, if I had questions, I was simply pointed to the pay phone to call whoever/whatever company it was I had a question about (such as the airport shuttle, etc.). Oh, by the way, they don't talk much about getting there from the airport - catch the "skybus", and it will take you to the main train station - and then you can catch a smaller bus (for free) from skybus directly to the hotel. Pretty sweet - round trip for $24 (book return at least 3 days before though). I recommend this hotel!
