Trip Type: Business Review 16 of 143Loved it!
I had a conference at the Washington Convention Center, but they only recommended the "stuffy" hotels near the Convention Center which were expensive and not in a very fun area. Topaz was a perfect location for us - around the corner from the Dupont Metro stop so i could take the Metro to the convention center or take a nice walk (about 25 minutes). We had a very large room with a seperate sitting area that was great to relax in, a nice quiet stay with attentive staff and everything we needed, all for much less than the hotels the conference recommended. The decor was very fun and gave a great funky feel appropriate to the Dupont Circle area. The building is right amongst the cute row houses in a quiet street off Dupont Circle.

Trip Type: Romance Review 19 of 143Outstanding boutique hotel
It was definitely worth the stay. Close to some interesting restaurants and sights, as well as located on a quiet street in a busy city - an unusual combination. Very friendly staff, making for a great atmosphere. Lots of hotels in D.C. have attitude, but this one had a great attitude - the right attitude! We've already recommended the hotel to firends, and plan on visitingthere again

Trip Type: Family Review 21 of 143Great find, great location
This was truly a great find. The hotel is located near DuPont Circle (and the Metro stop), about 5-6 blocks north of the White House and the Mall. It is also about a 20-25 minute walk to Georgetown from the location. The staff were great, and the room was quite large, much larger than I expected. I liked it so much that I changed my New York hotel reservation through Hotels.com to another Kimpton hotel. If you like boutique hotels (read small lobby, bar/lounge that serves breakfast and dinner) then you will like this hotel.

Trip Type: Business Review 22 of 143Great Location needs work
The hotel is very conveniently located to the dupont circle area and downtown business district. The staff is courteous and the room was spacious. However, the wall paper in the room was torn, upholstery was worn and the bedding was showing it's age. There are numerous restaurants in the area to have dinner and the lobby bar was full both evenings. Not for those looking to tour the Mall or sightseeing in DC. Other hotels are closer to those areas.

Trip Type: Family Review 23 of 143Friendly service, nice location
The staff was very friendly and the service outstanding. The location was relatively close to the metro stops and within a walking distance to all the sights (White House, etc.). The room was quite spacious. The only negatives were it was located on a narrow street which is less traveled at night (and one night a "local resident" approached me in a threatening way, which unnerved me) and cars have to be checked in and out of the garage (done by the staff). The rooms and the hotel structure are probably a bit old but this was noticeable only upon a careful scrutiny. Overall, a pretty good hotel for the price.

Trip Type: Business Review 24 of 143I'll stay there again
It's a great hotel. I had everything I needed... easy access off of Connecticut at Dupont Circle... great room... a lot of things are within walking distance... the only draw back would be that the wireless internet service was a little sketchy (maybe because my room was on the 10th floor which is the top floor) but other than than, a great experience. I will definitely stay there again.

Trip Type: Family Review 27 of 143Great hotel for the money!
The location was a little away from downtown DC but Dupont Circle had a lot of nice restaurants. The Metro was very close by so that was convenient. Hotel was very nice and staff was great. I would definitely go back.

Trip Type: Romance Review 28 of 143Nice, chic, quiet hotel!
The hotel was great for us. We stayed one night for leisure, and found the room to be nice, clean, and comfortable. It was a 5 min. walk from a metro, and in a very quiet area.

Trip Type: Romance Review 29 of 143Great hotel for the $ - only a couple of issues
My husband and I spent the weekend for our 16th wedding anniversary. The hotel was very clean and quiet. The staff was professional and helpful. There were only 2 issues: a. the room didn't have any cold water, only very warm and hot; b. the bath products were not freely distributed (we only received one bar of soap, one shampoo, and one conditioner) during our entire stay. We would consider staying there again.

Trip Type: Business Review 30 of 143Wow
What a great hotel. I travel for business so I stay in hotels often. I have to say this hotel is a great "breath of fresh air!" What fabulous decor! This hotel is not cookie-cutter and I appreciated that. Parking in D.C. is difficult and expensive no matter where you are. So if you are not accustomed to this you might be frustrated. The locate was perfect. Shopping was only a couple blocks away and the sites are close as well. Staff was friendly, especially the valet, my husband and I thought he was fantastic. Coffee was complimentary in the lobby every morning so the lack of coffee maker in the room was okay.
