    The first room I tried smelled like strong air freshener. My head started hurting before I could even sit down. I asked for an air cleaner but it made it worse so they gave me another room to try which was no different. It was as though they were trying to cover up smoke but they kept telling me neither of the rooms were smoking rooms so after trying 4 rooms I finally found one that didn't smell so strong. I was very happy with the rest of our stay. We stayed on the club level which was comfortable and quiet. The Wynfrey aims to please and they succeeded.

Location. The Wynfrey Hotel is located in Birmingham, Ala., and is directly attached to the Riverchase Galleria, with over 250 shops and restaurants. The Aldridge Botanical Gardens are within one mile of the hotel.

Hotel Features. French chandeliers and Italian marble beckon from the hotel lobby. Providing a montage of the National Football League's 1972 Miami Dolphins in a virtual museum, Shula's Steak House serves dinner nightly and provides plasma televisions in two private dining rooms. Live piano floats through the air at Ivory Lounge, which serves light items such as salads, sandwiches and burgers. Chicory Grille, a casual New Orleans-style eatery, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel features more than 32,000 square feet of meeting space that can accommodate up to 1,200 guests. Wireless Internet access is available at the business center. A 24-hour fitness center, and rooftop pool and spa tub are available.

Guestrooms. Beds are dressed with pillowtop mattresses, down comforters and pillows. High-speed Internet access and video game consoles are available in each guestroom (fees apply). Imported Italian marble and damask wall coverings grace the bathroom, where bronze mirrored sconces supply enhanced lighting.

Expert Tip. The adjoining Riverchase Galleria boasts the world's longest skylight at 200 feet.
