Trip Type: Business Review 16 of 406Nice hotel in loud neighborhood
Two nights for business. Was vary satisfied with hotel and amneties. One complaint; loud street music playing till 1030pm both nights in the middle off the week. Otherwise good room service and staff. Room was good as usual with Westin's.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 17 of 406Lovely, old hotel - excellent location.
Lovely hotel. Old, but charming and comfortable room. Wonderfully "comfy" beds and bedding. Shower... almost no shower pressure, unless the temperature was very hot! Be sure to ask for a room that does not have a door between rooms - could hear neighbors' conversations too easily! (The main lobby was "currently under major renovation".) Excellent location bordering Union Square.

Trip Type: Romance Review 18 of 406Awful experience
I have been to San Francisco many times and always had a great stay at the Hotel Adagio. I decided to try something new, which was a big mitake. The Westin provided horrible service with very small rooms. We waited in a long line wrapping through the lobby to check in and were then given a room with broken air conditioning. After being relocated to a much smaller room we continued to be dissapointed. The hotel is very large and very busy. It is very loud all hours of the day.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 19 of 406Beautiful hotel but needs improvement
This hotel is beautiful, however, it does not include amenities that come standard in other hotels. We stayed in the original tower and the room was very small and needed updating. The room had a musty odor and the bathtub would clog about a minute after turning the shower on. Hotel staff was very professional and helpful. Parking was expensive but comparable to other hotels in this area. The fitness room was only available at a fee that compares to my monthly fee for my fitness club back home, so we opted to workout outdoors. Location was the factor that drew us to this hotel, it has an amazing location but I would probably not stay here again. Not worth the price.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 23 of 406Good value if you get a good weekend rate
The Westin St Francis has all the trappings of a old, grande dame hotel and the conveniences of a modern business hotel. That said, it really veers more toward the businessy side especially in the Tower section. Like most mid-level convention hotels, there were some annoying things like rubberized hotel-style wallpaper in the hallways, stain and paint coming off moldings and doors, generic bathrooms, etc. The hotel does have a lot of charm though in the older public areas, and the restaurant Michael Mina right inside the hotel is truly one of SF's best. It's easy to just go eat in the bar area without reservations when you're already staying in the hotel. Anyway, I would recommend this hotel for the business travelers when their company is paying or for weekend visitors when they find a special rate. Oh...the two things thing that turned me off happened at the end of my stay. As I was checking out, I noticed they charged me for minibar items that I had simply removed temporarily and placed on top of the fridge so that I could chill a bottle of white wine. These charges were removed from my bill when I explained, though. The bigger problem was when I went to have my luggage stored for the day. At the bag drop, there seemed to be no one working and a line of about 30-40 foreign tourists who didn't seem sure they knew what they were doing. I finally found the baggage people and asked if I could just drop the bag since I had opera tix for the afternoon and needed to get going. They said I had to get in line and wait. I asked what could possibly be taking so long just to put some tags on some bags, and he responded very gruffly, "We have 600 guests this weekend and only three of us working here." I'm like, "three? it seems like it would just take one person." Then the bag check guy just said, "well, you could always take it with you," very snootily. Besides that, my bag already had two name tags on it; I never understand why I can't just leave it with them when I'm in a

Trip Type: With Friends Review 25 of 406Just okay!
Great location! Was not that impressed with the hotel. They give you exactly 2 towels in your room for 2. Called to get more, but even La Quinta gives you plenty of towels. Under construction so the lobby bar is not open until 4 pm. Not that impressed with the attitude of concierge desk...they act like they are doing you a favor, instead of a service. We had a delivery that we had to call down for instead of them delivering it to our room so if we hadn't called we would not have received. Overall, it was just okay, but I guess I expected more from a Westin property.

Trip Type: Romance Review 26 of 406Very Disapointed
Hotel lacks good service. Long lines at check-in and a very small bar that was impossible to get in and have a drink. There was a wedding party at the hotel when we were there so there was a long wait for elevators

Trip Type: Special Event Review 28 of 406Great hotel
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay except for a couple of things: room we were checked into was already occupied (we discovered after lugging our luggage to the tower!); remodeling of lobby was unpleasant; room was not fully stocked. Fantastic location, great bed, interesting history of hotel, friendly bell, greeter and housekeeping staff. Would definitely stay again - especially to see the re-done lobby!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 30 of 406Love this Hotel!
Love the location of the Westin San Fran/Union Square! Great rooms and comfortable beds. There was a bit of construction going on in the lobby, but it wasnt a problem. That's the only reason i rated the Condition or maintenance of the hotel poor.
