Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 12If you're headed to Kyoto, book a room here!
The Westin Miyako has got to be the best western-style hotel in Kyoto. Although it's not as sparkly as the Hyatt Regency, it's a much better value, and the surrounding neighborhood is much prettier and quieter (and much less annoyingly tourist-oriented). Really, this hotel's location in the Higashiyama district is key, and you won't be disappointed with the interior or the service, either. The bathrooms in are especially amazing, and the beds are quite comfortable as well. One thing that did annoy me was that I had to pay a surprisingly high daily rate for access to the internet, but I don't suppose most people visiting Kyoto will really want to waste time on the internet.

The hotel business center was closed most of the time. There were hairs (not mine) in the bathroom. The location was about 3km from the city center, but on a subway line. Nothing at all in the immediate neighborhood. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and rooms nice and comfortable. Overall, a 3 on a scale of 5.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 12Best Western-style hotel in the area
This hotel was very nice and very clean. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. They also speak English if that is a concern. The room we had was the largest hotel room by far during our trip (Japanese hotels tend to have very small rooms). The only thing we found weird was that you are required to wear a bathing cap to go into the hot tub. Overall though, the hotel was great and we would definitely stay there again.

the first room they offered us has no air conditioning. they told us to open the window or they can bring the electrical fans. non-smoking rooms has smell of smoke, talk to the manager and was told that the air condition room will be available next day, so we end up sleep with the windows opened and my wife got mosquito bikes.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 12Great room for the money
Hotel was very fancy and had a very nice staff. It was about 3 minutes away from a station, but was pretty far out from all the action in kyoto. Nonetheless the hotel was exellent and i would go again. Only downside that we saw was the price of food was very expensive in the hotel so we had the need to walk to the small restaurants early in the morning and late at night to grab a bite to eat. and only thing open past 10pm in the area was a lawson convenient store.

We asked to extend our checkout by one hour in a hotel which was barely 25% occupied. Despite all our efforts, there was no one who could grant our request. Indeed, our request was treated with great disrespect.

We found the Westin Myako Kyoto very comfortable and pleasant. There are lovely trails out from the garden that lead to beautiful views of the city and area. The hotel is just across the way from the Philosophers Path where many of the best temples and shrines are located, and it is a beautiful and interesting walk along the river. It's also walking distance, allbeit a bit further, to old Kyoto and the Goan. All room views are good--we had a mountain view and would probably request a city view next time.
