Location is Ideal

Location is ideal. Staff is very friendly and casual (Jenny and Cindy were very charming). The music in the lobby was very cool. The clientele at this hotel were quite chic, predominately European, particularly Italian. Daily breakfast was varied, satisfying and a good value. There was a spread of bagels & breads, fruit, cereals, juices, yogurt, coffee/teas, etc. Happy hour was fun, and there were specials on the house drinks. South of Fifth Avenue was very charming and ideally located. We spoke to people staying at other hotels and they said that they couldn't sleep because the hotel restaurants on the street would cause too much noise. This is not the issue at The Wave hotel. We had a street facing room and there was no street noise at all, and the view of people walking by was perfect. The hotel was undergoing yearly preventive maintenance on their elevator, and we had to walk up to our room on the 3rd floor. This was a very easy climb. There were 5 steps to get to the 2nd floor, and about 20 to get to the 3rd floor. This is not an issue at all. We originally planned to stay one night at this hotel. But after the first wonderful night, we extended our stay for an additional 5 nights! We didn't want to leave. It was a block to the beach, and a short walk to the touristic areas of South Beach, where you're constantly treated like a tourist. However, at The Wave hotel, you're treated like a personal guest. Everyone at the hotel was very gracious. We found parking on the street, and by putting money in the meter twice a day would cover a days' worth of parking ($18.75). I would skip the hotel valet service at $30. In fact, you can definitely skip the car, it wasn't needed at all. However, if you do bring one, parking on the street south of fifth is easy, safe, and affordable. It was easy to walk to everything and everywhere you'd want to go. There are wonderful restaurants and bar within 2 blocks of this hotel.

the hotel location, rooms, and surroundings exceeded oue expectations i will deinitely be staying here again.

Well, there is a bed in the room at least...

The hotel staff was not very nice. The front desk clerk asked for my credit card and swiped it without telling me why. When I asked her why she needed it, she basically rolled her eyes and snapped that there is a $50 hold. She rolled her eyes again and sighed when I asked her where we should park. Parking is $30 per night btw. The elevator was broken the whole time and we had to climb four flights of narrow stairs with our luggage to get to our rooms.The rooms are very, very small. The guest room in my house is bigger. We did meet some other guests and were able to see their room which was a little bigger. Bathrooms horribly small! Shower had black mold between tiles on the floor. The breakfast was bagels, toast, apple strudel, cereal,yogurt and bananas. There is no ice machine or ice buckets so we had to go to the bar to get ice. The area it was in, though on Ocean drive, was not close to the majority of the action. The area had a lot of rundown places with grafitti. The valet guy was rude and one didnt even speak English so I had to wait for and English speaking one to come because I had no idea if that was the hotels actual valet guy. The best part of this hotel is the lobby which was very chic.

A nice place to stay

This was a very nice place. About 3 blocks from the main club and beach section. The people were nice and helpful; they were able to give us directions and advice. An overall nice experince.

The Wave

Great location! Small rooms, smaller bath rooms and not the cleanest. Great value, did I mention great location! Very good service. Who needs a great room, it's South Beach! This place is all about location!

Poor Hotel

First of all there is No Resteraunt and No Room service like it said. Also the parking is not included it is thirty dollars a nite, which is not told in the description. Also u had to get ice at front desk which was a pain. Cable Tv was terrible hardly any stations. Beds were hard. Walls were thin heard every thing esp. upstairs. Very Noisey place.Also they piped music outside our room on patio which was near our room which was annoying.Overall the place was a horrible experiance never will go back to South Beach again. Over priced for what u got at this place!!!!

If Rain is in the Forecast DON'T STAY HERE!!!

To make a long story short... Upon arrival we were told that the rooms with double beds were overbooked. So, we ended up sleeping 3 people in 1 bed!!! Then it rained our first night and our room flooded! All the hotel management did was come in the room and put one towel on the window ledge. The next morning the room smelled awful because of the wet carpet. Did I mention the A/C was broken so we nearly froze our butts off!!! On top of that, Jenn (a member of the staff) had a bad attitude. Jose, on the other hand was nice. We eneded up getting another room the following day, but we were still stuck 3 to a bed. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

All about the location

You pay just for the location. The beach is right across the hotel and ocean drive is a great place to hang out. The hotel however is in ordinary condition, and can get noisy at night. Staff is helpful. Would recommend it only for the location and if you are getting a great deal.
