    It was chilly outside so the heated jacuzi was nice and the gas fire pit complimented the evening.

    The hotel is beautiful and so is the location and the grounds - only problems I had were fixed very quickly by guest services, i.e., smokey room, iron didn't work, phone didn't work. Two problems I did have were housekeeping stated I used the minibar - which I never touched and this concerned me - and I invited employees to dinner on saturday evening in the hotel restaurant, Azure, and the service was awful. I waited about 20 minutes for 1 glass of wine, our appetizers took about 30 minutes, dinner itself took over an hour - all in all very disappointing for such a beautiful setting and I didn't receive what I actually ordered!! Valet, check-in, guest services were all exceptional.

Location. The Shores Resort & Spa is a high-rise oceanfront resort in Daytona Beach, Fla., located directly on the Atlantic Ocean on the quiet, preferred south end of the East Coast's most famous beach.

Hotel Features. A bubbling fountain and tropical foliage grace the casual lobby. The Baleen restaurant's French doors open out onto a terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The restaurant specializes in candlelit dinners and ocean-inspired cuisine that incorporates regional and local flavors. The Baleen Bar provides outdoor patio seating and plasma televisions. A Tiki Bar serves cocktails, lunch and dinner poolside. Meeting space totals 20,000 square feet and includes ballrooms and conference rooms with high-speed Internet access for a fee. Wedding services are also offered. SpaTerre performs exotic Balinese spa treatments and Thai body rituals for the ultimate in relaxation. An outdoor heated pool and fitness facility are located onsite. Cabanas are positioned poolside and the hotel provides individual cabana service. Evenings, guests gather in the lobby to play board games, listen to the piano or take in the view of the ocean from the beachside fire pit

Guestrooms. The Shores Resort & Spa offers 212 guestrooms on 11 floors, all overlooking the Atlantic Ocean or Intracoastal Waterway. Tropical-style decor includes bright colors and painted rustic-style furnishings. Thoughtful room amenities include 42-inch plasma televisions, balconies, coffeemakers, desks, wireless Internet access and minibars. Premium bedding includes 300-thread count linens and a pillow top mattress. Bathrooms display doorless Italian marble showers and SpaTerre bathrobes.

Expert Tip. Cars are allowed on the beach at Daytona Beach. Car access to the beach is located next door to the hotel.
