    This hotel deserves a 5++++Star rating. Our vacation at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua was absolutely perfect. I was there 12 years ago and was extremely happy with the hotel. This exceeded our expectations. The property is very well maintained and the hotel was completely renovated. Our room was upgraded to a residential suite and was extraordinary. The personnel in the hotel were excellent,and the Concierge people were exemplary. They also had a shuttle service at this hotel that was like your personal driving service to all the restaurants and beaches in Kapalua. As you see I cannot say enough about our experience.

    There's something missing at this Ritz. For one, if the Hotel sepnt as much money on the renovation as they claim they should call the police because they got robbed! We stayed at this hotel two years ago and it needed a renovation. However, the fact that they removed a beautiful fountain to install a few poolside cabana's is not what you would expect from the Ritz. In addition, the weather in July although sunny included a breeze that was outright cold. When we asked, the staff said that it was always like this in July. (Note to staff: It wasn't like that on the other side of the island,) I would go back to Maui again in a flash, I just wouldn't stay at the Ritz.

Location. The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua is located near D.T. Fleming Beach in Kapalua, Hawaii. The resort offers complimentary shuttle service to Kapalua West Maui Airport, less than five miles away.

Hotel Features. The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua is located amid the 23,000-acre Kapalua Resort on Maui's western coast. Six on-site restaurants and bars include the resort's signature seafood restaurant, The Banyan Tree. Seasonal menus highlight fresh local ingredients. The sleekly designed Kai restaurant features sushi, sashimi, Japanese appetizers and sake. A total of 50,000 square feet of function space accommodates up to one thousand guests. Wireless Internet access is complimentary in public areas. Two championship golf courses adjoin the resort. Shuttles transport guests to the golf courses, three beaches and a nearby tennis complex. Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua offers Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ambassadors of the Environment program, which features a new environmental and cultural education center with excursions led by expert naturalists. Guests can hike through the Hawaiian rainforest, snorkel among coral reefs, and participate in underwater photography sessions while exploring nature's relevance to the Hawaiian culture. The transitional Boutique Spa features six treatment rooms, a full-service salon, relaxation lounges and a couple's treatment suite. A fitness center contains cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, a steam room, and a sauna. Classes include Pilates and yoga. The Ritz Kids Club offers supervised indoor and outdoor activities for children ages 5 - 12. The on-site Kapalua Adventures Experience includes one of the largest zipline systems in North America, two suspension bridges, a comprehensive challenge course and a four-station climbing tower.

Guestrooms. Winner of the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List in 2008, the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua offers 463 guestrooms and suites with dark wood floors, travertine bathrooms, Kukui floral-designed rugs and Hawaiian print artwork framed with koa wood. Furnished balconies provide ocean, pool or golf course views. Technological enhancements include LCD flat-screen televisions, iPod docking stations, DVD players and complimentary high-speed wired and wireless Internet access. Beds are draped with white duvets. Bathrooms feature soaking tubs, separate showers, bathrobes, makeup mirrors and Bulgari bath products.

Expert Tip. Two days a week, the resort invites local artisans to the resort premises to sell carved woodcrafts and traditional Hawaiian jewelry that make great souvenirs and gifts.
