Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 536Great, in a stately manner
Riding the escalator to the lobby and looking at the ceiling is a thrill. Staying there is a thrill!

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 536Outstanding hotel
If you are seeing a play in the Chicago Theaatre District, this is the place to stay. Convenient to walk to and we found it to be a very safe area. The lobby is wonderful, and with the bar situated right there as you walk in, it is an exciting energy that takes you in the minute you walk through the door. Staff was exceptionally courteous and polite. We also had dinner there, in Lockwood, and wow, what a treat! Fabulous presentation and the food was wonderful. Treat yourself to this fine establishment!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 536Classy hotel, good price, but extras cost money.
Fantastic location one block from Grant Park/Millennium Park. Starbucks & Corner Bakery at the base of the hotel. 24 hour Red Line underground subway at the door. Nicely appointed updated room (but bathroom is typically small in an old hotel), and a comfy bed . The lobby is breathtakingly beautiful from America's Guilded Age. The only negatives: Bring earplugs (the walls are paper thin), and the wifi was over $12 per day extra (most hotels offer it for free), and no free coffee/tea in the room.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 536Nice, comfortable and convenient location
I stayed here over the 2009 marathon weekend and the hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet. Being only 1.5 blocks from the park and Michigan Ave. made it very convenient for pretty much all of downtown and there were plenty of places to eat nearby. I had a small room with one bed. I was by myself, so the small room was comfortable, but request a larger room if you are more than a single. Overall, the hotel was close to perfect for my weekend in the city.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 536Location is terrific
We have stayed there several times because of its location near the art museums and parks. It seems to have gotten better as far as available food choices in the hotel. The room was quite large, although we have had very small ones before. The major complaint is the cost of parking overnight. Don't use the hotel valet parking service; convenient but its worth walking a block to a self-park city garage.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 11 of 536Beautiful Historic hotel
What a beautiful historic grand hotel in a great location. If you are a history buff or just love beautiful hotels this is your place. We wanted to be somewhere where we could walk everywhere and not pay an arm and a leg. Perfect location, we had a great stay!

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 536Outstanding, but pricey
I loved it, but my husband prefers something a little more contemporary. We stay on the executive level(key access only) and it was nice and quiet. The suite had 2 bathrooms and one was very small and cramped, but clean. Beds were comfortable, but a bit far from the small TV located in the sitting area. Location is perfect, long walk to all the big shopping, but close to the Art Museum and Milliennium Park. We didn't get a chance to enjoy the free appetizers and continental breakfast, but it looked good. I would defiantly stay again when I can afford it.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 536Outstanding Hotel
Location was perfect for a get-a-way weekend. We enjoyed the newly remodeled rooms, more than ample space for the 2 of us. Dining facilities, Starbucks, and lobby bar were all expertly staffed and clean and organized. Front desk check-in was outstanding and throughly enjoyed our stay. Slight drawback with this older hotel, sound proofing wasn't great. Would recomend this highly hotel. Foyer is breath taking.
