I normally don't review hotels that I book here on Hotels.com. I will make an exception for the Normandy. First, just to clear things up, I took public transit, so I cannot comment on parking. 1) Yes, it was a little bit of a walk from the Metro stop at Dupont. If you are planning to go out and back from Metro to room several times per day, this may not be the place for you. The walk is roughly 8-10 minutes, but through a very pleasant (and rather vibrant) area. 2) The room is small, as people have noted, for American standards. I hate saying this, but it is very much "Euro" in size. I loved it, not b/c it's Euro, but b/c it was cozy! Great four-post bed, amazing bathroom (marble, glass shower!), and yes, the famed espresso machine. I'm not normally a coffee drinker, but this did the trick. So, in my opinion, if you are younger than 40 and traveling with two people and want a safe but fun neighborhood, this is the place for you! If you don't like walking a little and/or need a palace-size room, don't stay here.

Great location, friendly staff, lovely lobby and room. This hotel never fails to impress me. Loved the "Cube" coffee maker in the room.

Trip Type: Business Review 20 of 269Be aware of parking before you book
Fantastic little hotel in great convenient location. Great pricing. Newly renovated. Rooms are very "European" - smaller but nicely furnished. Understand that there is very limited, narrow parking in the parking garage. Large SUV's just won't fit. Maybe 8 parking places for entire hotel. Available street parking is nonexistent. A great hotel very, very reasonably priced.

This hotel is on a quiet street on Embassy Row. It was walking distance to the park and metro. I absolutely loved my stay there.

The hotel was very nice and the staff both friendly and helpful. The rooms are rather small, but contained a number of hi-tech features, the best of which was a motion sensor which turned on dim floor lights in the bathroom.

Trip Type: Business Review 24 of 269delightful hotel
What a cute hotel. The only problem we had was with the espresso machine in the room. We couldn't figure out how to work it and there were no instructions. The staff were helpful and always polite. The room was beautiful and very clean. We enjoyed the neighborhood and found it to be in a convenient location.

Trip Type: Romance Review 27 of 269NIce but not really
We recently returned from a four night stay at the Normandy Hotel. The best thing s to claim are that it is clean and in a quiet neighborhood. There are a few issues that visitor' should be aware of including it is a good ten plus blocks from the metro, but they a very steep blocks especially when you have back problems. Second the rooms have no dresser's and the closets are small and taken up by a safe. We lived out of suitcases. Third the queen size bed was a really a full size. Fourth on the third day the only elevator was broke, so it was the staircase for several trips from the sixth floor, no apologies just a rude desk clerk.Fifth the $12 breakfast was fine but if you came after the first hour there were slim pickings and few tables without dirty dishes to sit.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 29 of 269Quiet, But Convenient
This was our second stay at The Normandy. The refurbished rooms are very nicely done with nice amenities. But the biggest selling point for The Normandy is its great staff and quiet location. It's close to everything and in a lovely neighborhood for early morning or late night walks. We loved the new flat panel TV's and the Nespresso machines. The bathrooms are great and we appreciated the wine cooler for our soft drinks! We spent 5 nights here and loved being here again.
