Great deal, nice comfortable beds/bedding. Very classic NYC decor. Great location near subway, easy walk to Times Square

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 473Excellent Value, Fantastic Hotel
Having been to NYC before, I was cautious in my expectations (especially considering the reasonable price) of the hotel and its accomodations. We (party of 4 for 2 nights) were pleasantly surprised when we entered the hotel lobby, encountered hotel service staff, and found our rooms. It exceeded our expectations. The location of the room was fantastic as well and we plan to stay at the New Yorker again. Special thanks to "Samira" at the front desk who assisted my wife and I with a room upgrade. Aside from our overall appreciation and satisfaction with the hotel, a note - Wwhen we received our (paid) updgrade to a suite, no one told us about the free continental breakfast that is included with "tower" suite floors. That would have been nice to have known about. Other than that. Great hotel and staff.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 473A trip down memory lane
Having stayed at the hotel in the 1970's it was such a pleasure to return and see the "new" Art Deco renovations. It is located 4 blocks to Macy's and across the street from Penn Station and an amazing view of the Empire State Building.... Will stay again and return to the city often. So glad I found the hotel on line.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 473Great location - next to Penn Station
I loved stepping out of Penn Station, crossing the street, and checking into my hotel! My room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Macy's was only a block away so I enjoyed a little shopping, too!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 473great location/clean comfy beds and bathroom
The hotel was very nice. In the middle of a busy shopping/fast food hub.. but great location and close to metro and bus. You can get uptown or downtown easily so the central location is great. Three blocks from Empire State Building. Beds were clean and comfy and any call to housekeeping was quickly and happily answered. They do not have a coffee maker in the room. However, it is easy to request one and they bring little single serving coffees and cups for the machine. We enjoyed our stay.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 473much better than the Hilton
We typically stay at the Hilton because that is where our annual convention is held. This year, they moved it over to the Javits center, and we looked for a new hotel. The New Yorker was excellent. Great everything. Nice job New Yorker!

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 473just kinda depressing
There's no one thing that was bad about the New Yorker -- it wasn't dirty, there were no bugs, my room had a bed, there was hot water. It was just the epitome of drab -- dark-ish, lots of browns. Verry loud -- when a neighbor left his/her room it would wake me up every morning. Couldn't get the water temp quite right with very touchy shower plumbing. Very charmless the sorta place you wanna leave quickly in the morning.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 13 of 473Neutral feeling
The hotel is large, I waited a in a long line to check in. They were semi cooperative, needed a frig for the room and there was much confusion with a delivery that was expected. Seems to be like a travel agents hotel, guests were mostly travellers from Europe. Location was good and room was small but clean and remodeled. Unsure if I'd stay there again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 473Great advice from staff for dining options
When we arrived, later in the day, most restaurants had stopped serving dinner, but we weren't in the mood for the national chain hamburger or a diner, so we inquired from the staff, and they were very helpful in suggesting a great area full of late-night restaurants. Clean rooms, plenty of elevators, and plenty of security. A coffee maker in the room would have been nice, but there's coffee, rolls, yogurt and fresh fruit available in the lobby, so it wasn't necessary.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 473Great Hotel at a reasonable price
The hotel is nicely located near Madison Square Garden. Rooms were clean and larger than most NY hotels I've stayed in recently. We received a special rate for multi-night promotion so it was definitely a great deal.
