Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 14Great location - not so great hotel
The title says it all. This is a great location, the hotel is not so great. The staff is ill informed about the city - mislead me twice. The rooms are not very clean and look like they were last updated in the early 80's. The elevators are scary. I think you can get a lot more for the money at surrounding hotels.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 14Prime location, transit accessible...with costly amenities
The Menzies is located right in the heart of the CBD in Sydney, within walking distance of the harbor, Quay Hill, The Rocks, and a 15 minute walk to the outskirts such as Paddington. It is literally right in front of Wynyard station, which has essentially all of the rails you need to reach any other destination you desire (Blue Mountains, Koala Sanctuary, etc). With that said, the hotel itself has beautiful rooms, a very helpful staff, and extremely comfortable beds (memory foam mattresses in some)! However, the internet access in incredibly expensive (30 dollars per day) and the parking adds up depending on how long you stay, as the lot they use is a public one that will give you discounted rates for staying at the hotel, though rates are still around 24 dollars a day. Aside form this, we enjoyed our stay, and would definitely return.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 14Perfect for a First Timer in Sydney
who will be staying longer than one or two nights. I stayed about two weeks in July 2009. With the Wynyard train station directly across the street with the Transit Shop right there to purchase long term tickets, the Menzies is perfect for transportation needs. Within one block of the hotel, you can find everything you need for settling in -- snacks, willing wine merchant, electronics, cheap, tasty takeaway. Front desk is eager to help and the wait is not terribly long even with large groups checking in. The Concierge Desk seemed a little understaffed, but I got the minimal assistance I needed. The rooms are quiet and give a sense of solidity. The Menzies was a perfect introduction to Sydney.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 14Awesome Location
This hotel is conveniently located in Sydney. We could walk to all the major attractions--the opera house, harbour bridge, museums, etc. Not only that, but the staff was courteous and our room was clean and comfortable. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 14Outstanding hotel
The Menzies Sydney Hotel is directly across the street from the train station and walking distance to Circular Quay and Darling Harbor. The hotel offers everything you would need including internet access, restaurant, room service, pool, spa, shops and more! I would stay there again!

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 14Great Location
Public areas of the hotel are beautiful. Room was clean, and serviced daily. Location was superb - directly across the street from Wynyard Rail station, only one stop from Circular Quay - easy walk to The Rocks, the Opera House, the Botanical Gardens. Would definitely recommend the Menzies to friends and family.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 14Decent hotel for money
It was nothing special but fairly inexpensive and GREAT location. Had one loud night but other than that it was quiet. That bed will kill your back though, this I promise you. And they don't have shower doors. But it was fine and close to Circular Quay, Darling Harbor, and the Rocks. All walking distance.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 14great location and staff
This was my first time to Sydney and the location of the Menzies was perfect. It is directly across the street from the train station (wynward) and bus stops. It is in walking distance from EVERYTHING, Circular Quay, Shopping, DArling Harbor, Sydney Harbor, The Rocks. The only bad thing about the hotel is the upkeep. Housekeeping does not do a room cleaning daily. You have to specifically ask if you want vaccuming done. They are trying to go green so they do not change the towels or sheets everyday unless requested. The concierge staff is very friendly and very helpful. They will go out of their way to please. The price was not bad either. I would go back knowing about the cleanliness and I would recommend this hotel for the location alone.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 14Great hotel at an excellent location
Comfortable room located within walking distance (<1 mile) of major Sydney attractions (Opera House, Aquarium, Harbour Bridge) AND across the street from a train station to get to these attractions and others outside of the city. Hotel Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included and consisted of hot options (pancakes or baked beans, eggs, bacon, etc.) and traditional continental elements (fruit, canned fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, bagels, juice, tea, coffee, etc.).
