Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 451Needs a little work/more amenities
Great location. Would be nice to have a microwave in the room and I don't think they should charge for internet service. I used the business center computer and they charged for that as well. Just feel that with the price you're paying for the room, those things should be included - feels like they're nickle and diming you for things that should be free.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 451The Best Hotel in DC
We have stayed at a few Hotels in DC, and we will only ever stay at The Melrose. They are the nicest people and we alway feel extremely comfortable. Everything from the curtious reception to the friendly staff, to the convienence location. It is remarkable.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 451Nice hotel in GWU neighborhood
Large room, small bathroom, lack of control over room temperature, no Fox News channel, charge for internet service. In the George Washington University neighborhood. 1.5 blocks to Metro.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 4514 Stars? More like 21/2 stars
The Melrose Hotel was located in a great area very close to the Foggy bottom Metro Station, which my husband and I used to get around to all of the sites in DC. However we found the hotel to be quite worn- chairs, wall decorations and some items didn't work. We were first given a room that the room safe didn't work and we asked for a non smoking room, which the room clearly was a smoking room. We did ask for another room, and the hotel did accommodate us quickly with another room that was smoke free with a working safe. Also one of the reasons we picked this hotel was in several descriptions about this hotel it had been listed that there were laundry facilities on the premises. When we enquired at the front desk, the person stated that they only had dry cleaning services availible and didn't have general laundry services on site. This was a disapointment for myself and my husband since we had already been traveling for 2 weeks prior and needed a convenient place to do laundry. All in all this hotel was rated 4 stars, however my husband and I felt it was more equal to 21/2 stars.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 451Safe Neighborhood, Great Hotel
I stayed in this hotel 2 nights for business purposes and the second night I went for a long walk and found the area to be lovely. Additionally, there were many people out and about doing the exact same thing - so I felt safe and secure. The Hotel staff were extremely helpful and kind.

the hotel was fine, as others had stated there was peeling wallpaper and some water damage, but I say so what, the staff was very attentive and courteous. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Spent 8 days at the Melrose and really enjoyed our it. The staff was outstanidng. Always friendly and eager to help. The hotel is well within walking distance of the metro and several restaraunts and stores. I would suggest opting for the breakfast package as it saved us money and time.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 451Melrose Hotel - happy staff - happy place
I was very surprised with the genuine happiness and friendliness of the staff. Everyone smiled and addressed us each time we came and went. Breakfast included with room rate was awesome...full hot breakfast yogurt, pastries bagels juice coffee - wrapped in full service with a smile. Check in was quick and friendly - staff seems to like each other and their jobs - this indicates good management to me. Hotel is a lovely older hotel with brass railing on stairs to bottom floor carpet over marble in lobby. Hotel location is in th heart of DC between Georgetown and Foggy Bottom area. Metro access is a few blocks away - we rode the metro from Reagan International and rolled our luggage to the hotel.

The shower had some mildew and the soap dish was broken from the shower wall. The beds were very uncomfortable. I wish I would have stayed in downtown.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 451Weekend at the Melrose
We went to see an opera at the Kennedy Center, shop, and visit museums. The Melrose is a short walk from the Kennedy Center and Georgetown. Foggy Bottom Metro Station is three blocks. The Melrose staff went out of there way to make us feel welcome and meet our needs. The room was large, cheery yellow, and had windows that opened. The hotel showed some signs of age but everything was clean. We would definitely go back.
