Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 135cost of hotel not matching rooms or service
This is a very pricey hotel with just slightly larger rooms than you would expect at a high end Manhatten hotel. The front desk staff were either rude or indifferent especially in addressing the fact that our room was still not ready for us to check in at 4:30 P.M. Inexcusable. Asking for somewhat later check-out on the day of our departure was again met with indifferent denials. If you are going to spend this kind of money, do it in a more well-managed hotel.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 135Good but needs some updating
Overall I found the The Lucerne to be a conveniently located hotel located in NY's Upper West Side. The size of the room was generous by NY standards. Staff were attentive and friendly. The one negative was that the furnishings have seen better days. The hotel could use a little freshening up. However, as a business traveler, I found the wi-fi to be reliable and with the inclusion of Nice Matin, I was quite comfortable. Relative to the rate I paid on-line, I received a good value.

The comfortable bed and large room (it was a double) and accommodating reception staff made my one night stay here easy.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 135Beautiful hotel, reasonable rates
Stayed at the Lucerene over Labor Day weekend. Beautiful old-world kind of place. Friendly staff. A nice place to get back to at the end of the day in NYC, only a little bit off-the-beaten-path for a typical day of doing touristy stuff in the city. But also, a lot more price-reasonable than other hotels that are on the beaten path.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 10 of 135Wonderful Place
The Lucerne is a "home away from home" for us. The staff remembers returning guests...is always cheerful and helpful. The restaurant, Nice Matin is a real plus. If the cable system provided MSNBC everything would be perfect.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 135Overall excellent hotel
The hotel was great; clean, friendly and in a great location. However, during our stay, we had problems with the water. Specifically, it went off, and when it came back on, it was brown and smelly. After awhile it cleared up, but we were unable to receive cold water in our room for most of the visit.
