Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 36Great Location
From someone who onced lived in Center City, this hotel is conviently located to see the historic attractions, walk Chestnut and Walnut Streets for shopping and prime location for night life and fine dinners. Also conviently located for shows. If you are looking for a fancy 5 star, this is not the place, but as good or better for comfort and just a great experience. We only live a few miles from the City and will stay here again for a night out without kids.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 36Outstanding Value
This hotel defines boutique. The staff was exceptionally helpful. The atmosphere very hip. The location within walking distance of everything you could want to do downtown. The room and bathroom were spacious and cozy. The wireless internet was ACTUALLY high-speed. Considering the location, the price could not be beat given the services provided. Definitely my choice to stay next time in town.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 36Good overall
Great central location, comfortable room. My room was on the 5th floor and nice and quiet. As some other reviewers have noted, the lighting in the room wasn't fantastic, but I didn't find it to be a big deal. The biggest problem I had was that my room wasn't ready when I arrived shortly after 3 pm (the listed check-in time). When I asked the front desk attendant for an estimate of when it would be ready, he shrugged and said he didn't know but he could call me when it was ready. No apologies, no offers to watch my luggage (though when I asked, he did take my bags).

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 36Nice Hotel Stay
Our stay at The Independent was fine. The hotel is in a nice, old fashioned building but was very comfortable. The security was great, staff very courteouis and even though they had no dining, their breakfast thet you ordered the night before was more than adequate.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 36Beautiful room
We spent a single night there and we wished we could have stayed another two. We had the king-size suite, which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It's within 5 minutes walking-distance to the theater district and a very short cab ride from some the best restaurants, as well. We will definitely stay there again.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 36Great little Hotel for a super price
Hotel was very nice, rooms were very clean and I loved the little continental breakfast that was delivered right to my door at the requested time. Only a couple of minor issues: 1. There was a light in the bathroom that kept cycling off and on, and I could not get it to shut off. I eventually just shut the bathroom door. 2. The refrigerators Ice machine was not working and made a horrible sound like the fan was rubbing against something. I eventually got up and unplugged the refrigerator. 3. The hotel has a night club in it's first floor and there was some noise that filtered up to my room. No biggie though. Overall, great place. I would definately stay again!!!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 36noisy saturday but lovely local shop keepers!
This hotel has lovely boutique accomodations; however, if you are staying on the 2nd floor beware that on a Saturday night you can hear techno music from an local club below; this may be bothersome. The staff was friendly and quick to please. I would certainly stay here again but certainly request a room on a higher floor. Notes on its location; there are some great shops/ resturants on 13th street you can go to! They call this area Mid-Town Village and the shope keepers are very kind!

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 36Great Experience
The hotel was fantastic! Upon arrival we were upgraded from a queen to a king. The staff was friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was delivered to our room and we were allowed to choose the time. The neighborhood the hotel is located in is filled with neat shops and a plethora of restaurants. Once you park you can walk anywhere, very cool.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 36Great Boutique Hotel
There was a very personable quality to this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the lighting in the rooms. I was there for a conference and had "take home tests" each night and the lighting was just not very bright. Under any other circumstances, this would be fine. I really enjoyed my stay here!

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 36Fantastic hotel
One of our favorite places we've ever stayed. The staff at The Independent is incredible - every single person we talked to was friendly, sharp, and eager to help - and the hotel is very charming and in a great location. We would definitely stay here again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 36Outstanding Hotel
The Hotel was great, unexpected big room w/ high ceiling. there was a fridge, ice maker etc. in the room. bed was confortable and big. the bathroom was big as well. everything was clean and neat. breakfast was served to the room at the time we chose. the location was perfect for us since we only stayed one night and didn't have much time to see Phily. It was close to City Hall, Liberty Bell and South Street. Only the light in the bathroom was confusing because we had problems to turn it off so it wouldn't turn on afterwards by itself. we would stay in this hotel again.
