The Grand Del Mar

Location. The Grand Del Mar is located in San Diego, Calif., adjacent to the Grand Golf Course. Del Mar is less than six miles from the hotel, and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club is less than eight miles away.

Hotel Features. The lobby of the 1920s-inspired Grand Del Mar features marble mosaic floors and hand-stenciled, vaulted ceilings. Serving dinner Tuesday through Saturday, Addison restaurant, named after the architect Addison Mizner, contains marble floors, arches, golf course views and a wine cellar showcasing top merchants. Overlooking the golf course, the Clubhouse Grill offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. A 21,000-square-foot, Renaissance-inspired spa offers outdoor massages in poolside cabanas and separate men's and women's locker rooms with fireplaces. Event space includes 20,000 square feet, a Grand Ballroom with a private car entrance, meeting rooms with wireless Internet access, Capella Chapel and a 10,000-square-foot lawn. Recreational amenities include 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts and Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve trails. Pools feature cabanas, a children's wading area, an adults-only area, a bar and a café. The hotel's Explorer's Club offers supervised children programs including hiking and nature-oriented activities.

Guestrooms. The 249 turn-of-the-century-style guestrooms feature dark wood furnishings and earth-toned color schemes. All rooms feature private balconies with golf course views. Bedding includes feathertop beds with down pillows. Marble bathrooms feature oversized tubs and separate showers. Laptop-compatible in-room safes, and high-speed wired and wireless Internet access are available.

Expert Tip. Adjacent to the Grand Del Mar is the 24-acre Grand Golf Club, designed by Tom Fazio. The Grand Golf Club contains a practice facility, golf shop and clubhouse.
