Trip Type: Business Review 16 of 373Needs improvement
Got this hotel last minute for a one night stay. Entered my room but was humid inside with a under-functioning air condition. Controls inside the room did not work. No fan inside room either. Needed to iron clothes, no iron inside room. Called room service for it, did not bring it after 15 minutes of waiting so had to call again to get it. Location is kinda sketchy and out of the way a bit. Would not stay at this hotel again.

Trip Type: Family Review 17 of 373Horribly Hot!!!
We stayed 2 nights and hated it. They have upgraded this hotel quite a bit. Its really very modern and decorated nicely. What the huge problem is, is that they didnt replace their AC units. Both nights it was absolutely the hottest inside the room then one could ever imagine. I complained repeatedly to the front desk and all they did was bring us another fan. A fan that would just move that hot air around the room. We didnt get any sleep at all and had a long day at the Diamondbacks game and then had a very long drive home. You would think they would have fixed the coolers way before purchasing all those decorations. The night we got home I called to complain and vertually got no where. Even after the hotels front desk told me that Hotels.com would refund my money, because they had a guarantee. Well I'm not happy with my stay and didnt even so much as get a "Sorry".

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 19 of 373Nice room for the money
Hotel Personnel very nice. Hotel policy about food and beverage should have been displayed on this site. Very disappointed about that. The view ground floor poolside leaves a lot to be desired. Otherwise, the room was okay w/nice bed and clean sheets and pillows and TV.

Trip Type: Family Review 20 of 373Four days with the Daughters
Daughter #3 flew in for Daughter #2 Birthday. We picked her up from the airport and spent 4 days in Pheonix. The Clarendon was a very nice place to stay. Built in the 1960's and has that feeling about it. The pool area was really beautiful. The service was excellent. The restruant inside was nice. The people working there were extremely helpful. A lot of effort has been made to redo the rooms and bring the hotel up to date. I would stay there again.

Trip Type: Business Review 21 of 373Internet not working
We needed internet and called ahead before booking the reservation to make sure the hotel had wireless internet access. They said that they did and that it was reliable. When we got there, we could connect for about 5 minutes at a time and would get kicked off. After calling the front desk, and going there twice, they said that they would reset the router. We had to check out a day early because we couldn't keep a connection.

Trip Type: Business Review 23 of 373Funky and fun
Needed a reasonable, downtown hotel for business, and didn't want a standard hotel experience. The Clarendon was a welcome surprise. 50's funk meets 21'st century convenience. The rooms were large and comfy, the lobby was cool, the pool was a great retreat form the heat, with its outdoor sofas, waterfall and misters. The hot tub was the largest I had ever seen, seating 25. Unfortunately, the rooftop bar was closed the day we got there, but I look forward to catching the views and drinking a martini there the next time around. We will definately be back!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 24 of 373very nice people
extremely nice hotel. Old but nice. My room was upgraded right there and than only because their fax machine did not work and they did not get my booking from hotels.com. clean, cool and the bar was great.

Trip Type: Business Review 25 of 373dissapointed, even for the price
I booked the Clarendon because the buzz on the street was that it was the new "hip" hotel, and the price was unbeatable. This hotel did not meet expectations, even for the price. First, the website promises internet access in the room, which I needed because I was their on business. The internet worked intermittently, and was completely unreliable. Second, It was 110 degrees in AZ while I visited. The hotel room was muggy and warm. They provide a fan, and you need it. The AC was terrible. I was uncomfortably warm in the room. Third, they promise a fitness center. Well, the have one, but it's filled with old, squeeking, and squaking machines, that may be from the late eighties sometime. Plus the "fitness center" was at least 8o degrees. The staff could care less about any of it by the way. I called about the internet twice, and they didn't even try to feign an interest. On a positve note. The restaurant on property is awesome. the food was the best Mexican I've had in ages.

Trip Type: Business Review 26 of 373I Was Very Pleased.
I found my stay at this hotel to be very pleasant. I had read all of the previous comments of the hotel before I went, and I found only a few of the negative ones to be accurate. THe staff is friendly and helpful. Yes the place looks like an office building, but it adds to its embiance. Covered parking is a great plus, especially for 118 degree days and it was within a couple miles of everything that I had to get too. The pool and spa are by far one of the best hotel pool & spa's I have ever been at and I stay at a lot of hotels. I did find it was a little noisy up to midnight when the pool closes, but i was prepared for that, so it was no big deal. Once midnight hit, it was extremely quiet and I finally rested and rested well. I would recommend this hotel and I plan to stay in the future.

Trip Type: Business Review 27 of 373not what it seems
The over all layout online is not what the hotel really is, after you drive up to the hotel its in a very old building and as you walk in you feel like you just walk into a hotel in the 50's. nothing worked in the hotel, exspect the t.v. the bath room was not clean, and it was not a good time

Trip Type: Romance Review 28 of 373Great for couples getaway
The Clarendon is terrific! Super hotel for a couples getaway/friends weekend, etc. (Not really a place for families) Great staff, super decor, comfy modern rooms and amenities. Fabulous pool and rooftop bar. And we got a great deal thru hotels.com! The bathrooms are really small but it's an old hotel. Only 2 negatives - the site said there was a minibar and there wasn't, and the indoor bar and restaurant was closed for remodeling (would have been nice to know that when we made our reservation).

Trip Type: Business Review 30 of 373Love this place, great ambiance and great room for the money!
I have stayed here several times and would highly recommend to anyone. The only issue was the air conditioning was not that great, but would not deter me from staying there again.
