a classic hotel

This hotel is a unique property. We enjoyed looking at the photos of the history of the hotel which are displayed throughout the lobby and main hallways. A bellman noticed our interest and took the time to explain how the hotel has been renovated over the years. We had excellent service at the restaraunts. We had paid for a "classic" room, it was clean, the bathroom was sparkling. At our low rate, we did not receive a room with a view, but that was fine, we did not spend much time there. We would stay there again if our travels take us back to Berkeley.

Needs Improvement

As we were checking in at least 3 guests were at the front desk complaining. We were in a suite with a view on the 7th floor which was quite expensive and during our entire stay there was a loud rumbling right above us like there was contruction happening. We didn't sleep at all.

parking

The parking for guests was not extra, I'm sure it was added somewhere in the bill but not at this hotel...it was our 2nd stay and we will come back...thanks

Lovely hotel but needs a new coat of paint in rooms; bathrooms need to be up dated as in shower tiles and doors.

Old school

Outstanding bed & shower which are the 2 most important things. Room was not well layed out and a little crowded. No place to put the room service tray. White tile in the simple tub/shower had some black grout which always bugs me but I just closed my eyes and enjoyed the great shower preassure. Nice grounds, nice people. We'll go back when we get another good deal.
