Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 1133There were bugs in the bathroom
Based on other guest reviews I expected this hotel to be a hit, but it wasn't. The rooms were not thoroughly cleaned - there were bugs crawling around in the bathroom, hairs on the floors and towels. The sheets, which were very thin and filled with holes and the beds as well were very uncomfortable. The air conditioning unit was a very old model that sounded like a missile silo when turned on. The elevators were the smallest I've ever seen, so much so that it often took forever to get in & out of the hotel. The front desk service was fine but I wouldn't say they went out their way to be friendly or anything. Overall, not the experience I was expecting!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 4 of 1133Best Breakfst in town
My husband and I stayed at the Bellevedere following a trip to Egypt. Visiting New York before returning to our home in Calif. was to give us a brief respite from air travel. What a treat! We were close to everything and were able to walk to Times Square, the theatres on Broadway and multiple restaurants. Although I am physically handicapped, I found walking to be reasonably uncomplicated. Although the hotel has only a facility for breakfast, it is really a great way to start your day. The food is really good and the staff friendly and very helpful! In fact, all the staff we had chance to interact 3ith were very courteous, friendly and helpful from the doormen, to the reception area, to the porters and the concierge. The ambience is lovely; the rooms comfortable. Because of it's age, there are a few drawbacks, especially in the bathroom, but they are not hard to deal with. Great place for the money. We'll definitely stay there again!

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 1133Great for what it is
The Hotel Belvedere is in a killer location near the theater district and Times Square, but on a quiet enough street that you don't feel accosted the second you walk out the door. My room was nicely updated, the beds were comfortable and clean, the bathroom was small, but definitely useable and not cramped, and the overall feel of the hotel was great - semi "historical" without being period or dated. Definitely more character than any of the comparably priced "chain" hotels you could choose in the area. That said, my room was directly across from the elevators, which meant that there was some noise as other guests made their way to their rooms. I turned on the A/C unit in the room for some white noise, and slept soundly. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a semi-budget option for travelers looking for a killer location!

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 1133Hardest Bed I ever slept on.
Bed was a brick. TV was an old 19". Bathroom was tiny. Other than that the hotel was just okay. Would not stay there again.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 1133Great hotel for the price and location
This was a last minute booking and it was important to be in the heart of the city for only a one-night stay. I was looking for a good price, but a comfortable and convenient location, and I found it at the Belvedere. The room was not spacious, but more than big enough, and was clean and well-maintained. The bed and pillows were very plush and comfortable. The only complaint was that the smallish flat-screen TV was a little "temperamental" and sometimes wouldn't turn on, off or change channels. Perhaps just a battery problem.... Would stay again.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 1133Good value
Good location, within walking distance to Times Square. Lots of good food close by. Probably only three opportunities for improvement: 1) mattress was very hard but most hotels have similar mattresses; 2) their hair dryer would not work on high (tripped the breaker; 3) the Wolfgang Puck coffee in the room is awful. I have had this in several other hotels and I just think it is terrible. Other than these, the stay was good and I would definitely recommend it.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 1133nice hotel in need of improvements
outdated bathroom(1930 showerhead, toilet too low and a not water saver, no ventilator), can't control rooms temp but also heat turns on in daytime and shuts off at night when its cold, no free internet.

The hotel was in a great location....only 2 blocks away from times square. The only complaint we had was with the beds...they were as hard as a rock!

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 1133Great location and value! Needs an earlier check-in
Second trip to the Belvedere. Love the location and the rooms are a great size for NYC with a desk, frig and microwave all being nice additions. Very comfortable bed. Only negatives: Shower had no water pressure and the 4pm check-in is so late. I called beforehand to request an early check-in, but when I arrived they said they could not guarantee and would hold our bags and call our cell when the room was ready. They also had said that on my first visit which is why I made a request before this trip. Both visits, they never called me to tell me my room was ready. We had to call the hotel at 4pm since we had not heard. Very frustrating. The staff is the only weak link here for me. But all in all if you have few needs, the hotel is spacious, clean, and in a perfect location in Midtown. Plus I have found great lower rates last minute.
