Great Scenery, Hotel needs improvement

First off the scenery is great. Plenty of hiking and biking trails. The drive from Jackson Hole is about an hour plus depending on traffic. The rooms are small and old, no air conditioning, and alot of mosquitos and flys inside. You should get alot more for the money. The rooms do not have a microwave or mini-fridge for you to keep drinks cold. Even with a non-smoking room the you could smell the odor of cigarettes. The towels even smelled like a cigarette. We tried to switch rooms, but the front desk said the place was booked. Looked out at the parking lot at 4 am and counted 8 cars. Only saw 3 other guests while there. Tried to use the hot tub, but it was not working. Housekeeping came into the room. They left the dirty towels and did not vacuum the dirt off the old carpet. There are 2 resturants on property, only one was open and it served a limited menu. There is also a snack bar that is open sometimes with even less things, and the freshness of the food is debatable. The town of Driggs, ID is about 15 minutes away. There are some good resturants there.

Not very clean, but acceptable.

I firstly declare myself as a "picky" person. Therefore, the room is not as clean as I expect. The location is suitable for winter season, which lies on the mountain for skiing. Still there are sufficient facilities, namely a good restaurant, gift shop, market, and accessory for activities. In short: Pros: good view, amazing place for winter sports. Cons: Few activities for summer, check available days before hand.

Great Views

This hotel is out of the way and up in the mountains. Nothing else is around. For great views and access to the mountain, you can't beat it for the price. However, it is about a half hour from Jackson and a fairly treacherous but beautiful drive.

Needs improvement

Nothing was open here. No restaurant open. No restaurants within 12 miles. They should not advertise as a 3 1/2 star resort when all they had was a small room and no ammenities. We had been told we were being put in a one bedroom condo and when we checked in they put us in a small lodge room. Worse than a cheaper hotel. If they are not offering any ammenities after Labor day and before ski season they should not book rooms or just advertise as a 1 star.

Beautiful resort and friendly staff!

This resort exceeded our expectations! The scenery was beautiful and the hotel staff were very helpful. The room was a little dated, but overall we were very comfortable. Our only complaint was that we were told the Grand Targhee was convenient to Jackson Hole. However, the drive takes more than an hour! As a summer escape I highly recommend the Grand Targhee. It's location is very isolated up in the Tetons, but everything you could possibly need is available at the resort.

Take ear plugs

the walls and ceiling were like paper It was a little older but clean. But the location was great.
